Cheap, terrible machine. So disappointed in Singer. I've owned Singer machines in the past and loved them. This machine skipped stitches constantly. The bobbin balled up. Could not adjust the tension. I threw it away.

I have had a Singer for as long as I can remember. I think it is a shame that the machines cannot be mounted in a cabinet like my old one. I hear a lot of people say the same thing. The newer machines that don't mount into cabinets seem to slide around on the table top and will never be as good as the older ones for that one reason alone. I will always try to fix my old one before dragging this new one out of the closet to use.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] While this Singer Fashion Mate Model 3342 is marketed as a beginner machine at an attractive price, it offers more than enough features to all our home sewing projects. Threading the machine was easy by following the diagram card included with the package. The 3342 offers a wide variety of stitch types with adjustable length and width and even does buttonholes in one easy step. Overall this Singer is a great value and should hold up for a long time to meet all our sewing project needs. We really like it’s compact size and light weight as we move it between two homes as we do projects. . It makes a great gift for all ages. Try it out and see what you think.
I would recommend this to a friend!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This sewing machine is fantastic. I do wish it came with more bobbins because I filled all 4 of them last night and I started doing some sewing. I was trying to finish up sewing and my mom unplugged the extension cord that I had my sewing machine plugged into. The photos are going to be fuzzy because I can't find anywhere else that I can take the pictures at.

I got this as a gift for Christmas last year because I needed a sewing machine for all of my projects that I do. It's really simple, but man this machine is horrible. It makes a super loud clanking noise when you sew, like super loud, and the thread gets tangled a lot and breaks. I've been sewing since I was like 5 and know how to use a machine. This one is okay for the price I guess, but I would never buy it again.
Pros: Can Withstand Use
Cons: Super loud.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This is my 2nd Singer, and probably my last. My last Singer was a Confidence 7470. I didn't use it on a daily basis, but to make a couple of full size quilts and a few baby quilts along with generalized mending at home. I stopped and was told it needed a new motor so I bought this one because I really didn't need all the extra options the previous had. Pros: The needle threader has to be held in place, vs it would stay with the Confidence. I had trouble with skipping stitches and the thread breaking. After making sure it was threaded correctly and using some extra recommendations by Singer I found out this machine is very picky. Compared to the other you must use the correct size of needle, and it really needs to be changed out. It's so picky you can't even use a needle one less size off. The instructions aren't clear to how to properly thread. I've seen 2 different instructions on where to end the threading before putting the thread in the needle. Also, the cord that attaches to the machine and foot pedal is too short compared to my other. Now I wish I would have went back and picked up that attachment. It works, but it really needs to be about 6 inches longer. It's also very loud. Even with a brand new needle and the correct thread. Oh yes, this is another thing. You must use better thread with this one or you'll be running into trouble as I had before with a dull needle, which really wasn't that dull. I had only used it for one project, and it was a Singer needle. I've had a Brother before. This will be my next purchase. I even had the lady at the repair center tell me that Singer isn't built like they used to be.

I would not encourage anyone to purchase this machine. I'm not sure whose idea it was to put the word "simple" on this but that is not the word to use, MAYBE "JUNK" seems more fitting. I have wasted more thread, material and time adjusting thread and bobbins. All just to try and make face masks for healthcare workers and my family.
