Long term, Does not work

I used this stick for about a year, and over that time it was weird. It started out fine, however the upload speeds weren't the best. However, as time went on, files would begin to corrupt, with it sometimes crashing my files app trying to load some folders, pictures, or videos. Eventually, it got worse and worse, to the point where some files would crash my entire computer. I'd try and launch a video, movie, or game off of it, and the it would cause my files app to crash, then followed by it crashing every other application, and freezing any options I had such as task manager, my windows button, as well as MY POWER BUTTON TO MY PC. After waiting over an hour for it to load, I turned off my computer using the POWER SUPPLY because NOTHING else would respond. When I turned the computer back on, the usb wouldnt launch, and would ask to "insert the disk", and it saying there wasnt any data on it at all. Overall, I lost over 100gb of movies, photos, videos, and game saves, with no way to recover them. Do not buy this stick if you intend it to be used long term. It cannot keep up.

A suitable emergency storage

I was in Okanagan Valley, BC, and badly needed a storage device (this is 256GB) to transfer the files from my camera's memory card, and this USB 3.1 flash drive had fast read/write speed, and although I could have bought something cheaper, I was willing to pay for the speed and the convenience.

The S80 USB key is the fastest I've found, It can exceed the rated speed of 150 MB/s on large files.

Wow this thing has slow write speeds

The transfer speed on this driver are abhorrent. Copying a dozen large files to this drive total 30GB took 43 minutes.
Read speed is also poor, but not the nearly unusable write speed of this device. I bought 4 of these on Black Friday promotion. Needless to say all 4 will be going straight back. I had purchased a Lexar Flash drive about 2 years ago.
Same operation to a WD Easystore Flash Drive and ancient PNY Flash Drive, 4 Minutes and 6 minutes respectively.
The transfer rate frequently drops from a low peak of ~28MB/s to 312KB/s other drives sustained closer to 100MB/s.
In short if you are looking for a large amount of storage (that is hopefully stable) and have all the time in the world for write operations this may be the drive for you. Otherwise I would sugges you stay away.

Hi All: I ordered this at the same time as I was ordering something else of much greater value. However, I was not able to have them shipped at the same time. So the memory stick ended up costing $10.00 shipping fee. Therefore it ended up costing $40.00, which didn't seem like such a bargain. Having said that, the stick performs beautifully. It is fast and does what I want it to. (I'm using it to install MX-Linux on.) Works great. MX boots up quickly and runs smoothly. One last thing, I only wish the stick had an indicator light to show activity. Ciao for now. Jim
