I really enjoy the way this case looks on my silver iPhone 13 Pro--you can see the shiny silver sides and it looks very sparkly and pretty. However, the case is very slippery and I was always afraid I would drop my phone. The case is also very thick (the back in particular) and somehow heavy--I finally got a replacement every-day case (I figure I can use this one when I am dressed up) and the phone feels lighter and more balanced in it. This Case-Mate case feels like it should protect the phone alright, all the edges are raised around screen and cameras, and corners have feet on the back so it lies flat (but I think this is also why its so thick), but I just worry about my ability to hold onto it.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
