It was my first time buying a speaker & skull candy did exceptionally well to meet my expectations. If you need a speaker just for yourself & love the vocals, this skull Candy speaker is the right choice. The build & sound quality is great & I am really happy with the choice I made to buy this one for my personal use.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Don't buy it

In the beginning, the sound is great and the bass is perfect. Less than a year now, it's all white noise with the low music playing along. The speaker was handled with care so it doesn't make sense why it won't play clearly anymore. Hoping I get the warranty since it's less than a year.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Add to the StayAway list for Hikers

For a speaker branded as the portable hiker's pal, this thing seems too delicate to actually handle that. I bought this in the fall of 2024 and it didn't last the winter. Credit where it is due, while it did still work, the audio fidelity and bass was superb considering both the price and size.
I took this speaker on 4 trips to the backcountry, sometimes inside the pack and sometimes strapped outside the pack. The last trip was in January, I chose a weekend warm enough for an overnight with only my winter clothes and a wool blanket, so it's extremely unlikely the cold killed it (though I wouldn't give it much credit if it did, since again, branding). It sat inside the house until late March, when I turned it on for some tunes while doing some light renovations, and bam, broken bluetooth receiver. Even after a factory reset, the audio that could come through was unbearably choppy.
Even for a cheap speaker like this, the thing wouldn't last 2 seasons with what I would call light use given its advertising angle. I can't justify recommending this to anyone looking for a good trail speaker.
