Worth every penny -

If you have never used or owned a Staub oven, then it is time. I started using them about 11 years ago. And it makes my life easier. I literally toss a piece of meat or pieces of chicken, add a seasonings (I always include onion, garlic, salt and pepper) some liquid (usually a combo of canned tomatoes, chicken stock and wine), put it in the oven and cook for an hour or two. Done! Happy family!
The 7qt is terrific for a larger family. I usually use the 5 qt for 3 people. My 7qt, which I have in grenadine, is pulled out for larger groups and special occasions.

I love this size and I love this shape especially for roasting chickens or baking a boule of sourdough bread. You have enough room to add your vegetables in with the chicken, which is a huge plus. For baking bread the cast iron is perfect because it conducts heat so well, and retains the heat. The spikes under the lid collect moisture and self-baste whatever dish you are baking or roasting in the oven, all while it is cooking, so almost like you have an extra hand! You get to take all the credit though! Bread does come out perfect when baked in a staub and your chickens will come out juicy and golden brown.

GREAT FOR INDIAN COOKING

I heard about Dutch Oven for the first time when I moved to the US. After conducting extensive research, I was told that it is the best for Indian cooking. And after much deliberation, I was convinced by my colleague to get this Staub Dutch Oven. OMG, what a beauty it is. In love it its performance. I made Chicken Biryani and Chicken Tikka Masala. The performance was so good. The meat melted and came out of the bone so quickly. One of my favourite utensils in the kitchen and my prized possession. I am gonna say 'HELLO LOVEERRR'

Wrong shade of red, still waiting on refund

The color doesn't match the image on this page. The red is much darker. I spent $55 returning the pot via Fedex with the returns form from this site to the Zwilling warehouse and now, nearly a month later, still waiting for my mom to be refunded. Buyer beware. It's looking like we'll need to go to the Better Business Bureau for our refund.

The cherry red is inaccurate in the product images

The cherry color of the website is gorgeous but inaccurate. In real life the color is a much much darker red and not at all what I wanted. There is a dark color gradient. Super disappointed since this is our only wedding present and due to it's ugly color, we are returning it. Additionally, the returning process is difficult with this company. Bummed!

Great size for a larger crowd. Rough enamel interior brownsand carmelizes so well while not showing any staining. The spikes on the lids are strategically placed to allow "self-basting" during the cooking process. All you need to do is select your favorite color.
