The handle of this knife I just received is lighter than my originals, the plastic differs, it throws the balance off. I have the original set I purchased in the late 1980’s, including one of the two Four Star 5” Serrated Utilities. I’ll be stopping by a cutlery retailer to see if the engineering changed or it is this distributor. It is noticeable without weighing, but I did weigh it to be sure.

Four Star 5" Serrated is a most utilitarian knife. Feels very comfortable to use - well proportioned handle-to-knife size (I'm 7 women glove size). I use for everything needing serrated edge and other uses including cutting veggies. Wanted second serrated knife so, tried Classic 5" Serrated Knife but returned because handle is way too small to grip and knife is smaller size. Bought a second of the Four Star 5" Serrated.
I would recommend this to a friend!

This knife is so versitile, I don't ever want to be without it. Great for slicing foods with hard skins and soft interiors. The serrated edge never needs sharpening and is always reliable!
Not to heavy, but heavy enough to feel substantial. Love the grip on the molded handle which makes it easier to use, and allows for longer periods of use. The steel is stain resistant and looks like new everytime I wash it. Can't say enough about this knife!

A “specialized” utility knife

Tomato preparation is beyond compare. The 5” serrated blade effortlessly slices thru the body - thick or thin, dices cleanly without crushing and the plain tip excoriates the stem easily.
I STILL have not had the need to sharpen mine after years of ( light ) use.
Small French or Italian bread loaves can be sliced cleanly and easily, with minimal crumb shed.
What more could you ask for?

I bought this knife about twenty years ago, and have loved using it--almost exclusively with tomatoes--all these years. I had a house guest here a little over a month ago who noticed me using the knife and said she wished she had such a good knife. I sent her and her husband one as a gift, and they phoned me to say they used it the day it arrived, and are enjoying it as much as I treasure my own.

I had my five inch serrated utility knife (AKA tomato slicer) since my parents gave us a Henkel set back in the 1970s, and was really sad when I took it to a meeting to slice a cake I was sharing and lost it. It is, as others have said, the most useful knife in the set. I was thrilled to be able to find the same knife that matched my old set perfectly! These really are great knives.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this knife as a gift and love it! I reach for it for so many kitchen chores. It is great for cutting tomatoes and so many other foods. Slices very thin if you prefer and doesn't just butcher what you are cutting. I hope to get many years of use out of this knife and have just purchased the 2 pc. prep set because I am so impressed with this knife.
