7.25qt seems large, but is perfect for everything from baking bread to making stews and braising lamb shanks. If you want to cook for more than 1-2 people, I recommend this size.

Better than expected

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had previously owned a La Chasseur 8 QT Dutch oven that I needed to replace. I am so happy with the size of my new Dutch oven. I am so much happier with the matte black interior. My old pot was a white enamel and it was badly stained.

Perfect Pot for Serious Cooking!

This pot stays on my stove top almost year round. It beautiful to look at and awesome to cook in. There isn't anything I can't do in it! Braised short ribs, pot roast, chili, soup, bread and of course deep frying. It's a beast! But in the best possible way.
Good sized handles and metal knob on top make it easy to work with. Thick cast iron maintains even temperature, ideal for French fries, potato chips and beignets. Worth the splurge. It's going in my will to the next gen cook in my family.

Nice size

I have several pieces of Staub. This one is a little larger than my others which is so nice for larger portions of soup or chili, a pot roast, or even deep frying. I'm amazed when I take the lid off how much moisture is on the dimples inside the lid. This is the first piece of blue I own and it is stunning. Such a rich color.

In addition to the beautiful jewel tones of Staub enameled cast iron cookware, I find them to be very functional. The inside surface provides perfect searing, browning, and braising.
Combine this with the self-basting capabilities of the lids, meats are more tender and moist and recipes more flavorful.

Feed the hungry family with this 7qt cast iron cocotte in Staub's beautiful dark blue color. This dutch oven provides the perfect heated surface for any stovetop or oven-baked dish, especially during the holidays when you have tons of guests over! The double handles make it easy for you to show off as you transfer your fabulous meal from the stove/oven to your dinner table.

Great large dutch oven

I love using this pot for so many recipes. This is a great size cocotte, I’ve used the 5.5 qt before and sometimes that would be too small, but with the 7 qt. you’re not restricted in size when making large soups or recipes. I love how well this heats up and retains the heat. I also love that the lid actually does something in the cooking process, and that I don’t have to worry about my food going dry. It’s heavy, but very durable, I absolutely love this piece!
