Wow! So sharp and stays sharp for a very long time! The 100 layers plus the core make for a very durable blade. I especially love the Damascus patter and the linen handle that looks and feels like wood! Try one and there is no looking back or going back to other knives!

What's the difference between a lesser quality paring knife and one like this?....Everything! This knife is crafted from SG2 steel which, while it's not gold, it is the "gold standard" of steel. Aside from the beautiful 100 layer damascus design the handle is also a work of art that fits perfectly and comfortably into your palm. The Micarta handle has a wood grain appearance with none of the downfalls of wood such as swelling or cracking. Treat yourself you'll enjoy this useful knife every day.

Kramer - Beauty and Function

The ultimate in paring knives! It is that great thick three rivet handle that fits perfectly in the palm of your hand and will have the durability to last a lifetime. It's made of micarta which is a linen and resin mixture that has the durability of a synthetic material but the look and feel of wood.
It's made from a super hard, SG2 steel core that will give you incredible sharpness that will last. Plus it's surrounded by a beautiful 100 layer damascus design.

Excellent Kramer design. SG2 premium micro-carbide with rare knuckle clearance for a parer...and larger grip for control. Nice wrapped Damascus pattern as well.

this lovely paring knife has a good feel on the shape of the handle, the steel works magic on an apple or potato for paring and thin slicing.

This knife is one of the knives I use the most, besides the chef and santoku. I use it for prepping vegetables and for fruits. I bake quite a bit so seem to always have a parer in my hand or within close reach. This one is sharp and has retained it sharpness, and having a more acute angle, it slices and peels like a dream.

Feels good to hold

I have medium sized hands and this paring knife feels great in my hand. The handle has some size to it, so don't have to clamp my fingers so tightly while peeling. It makes a big difference when I am baking pies with lots of fruit. Kramer knives aren't for everyone, I get it. However, there are some things in life that are worth the quantum step up. Personally, I think using and owning a Kramer is a special bonus in a cook's life. There is history and quality, and insightful design. Plus there is uber-quality in each knife. The core steel that chosen, the layering of different metals, the manufacturing processes that were created to achieve this level of durability and sharpness. There are craftsmen who pour their knowledge and their skills into each Kramer knife that is produced. So yes, it makes me appreciate using it so much more. When I start working with the blade itself, I appreciate it all over. Each cut is a reminder of how finely sharpened the knife is. Each stroke shows how easy it is maneuver, even the long knives. And the large handle is a comfort to a finger that is developing arthritis. These knives are very easy to keep up the maintenance. Each knife sharpens so easily it makes me think I am much more skilled that I really am. LOL
