The chef's knife has a few small chips on the blades edge right out of the box. With the honing stone it will correct intime but would be nice if they were not there. I've had the set for 2 weeks and they work great all blades are sharp and cut nicely. The santoku knife had two small spots where the blade's edge rolled when placing it back in the holder, this was caused by the honing stone in the holder ( was loose on the right side). Just have to be carful do too the construction of the knives. Over all I am happy with the set hopefully they last me many years.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
