I'm writing this review after watching my husband go to town on the ribs he wanted to smoke. It scared me a bit but he had always wanted a meat cleaver so this is the one that was recommended. First of all... IT IS HEAVY, but I think that's the point, it has cut thru chicken bones like they were styrofoam, and judging by the smile on his face did some serious work on those rib bones. The Four star knives have always been the best , this has now been added to the collection!

perfect size and weight

I am very pleased with this cleaver. Too many cleavers rely on size and weight to force their way through bone and meat. This one relies on quality of material. The forged German blade is sharpened to the perfect angle. The quality of the steel keeps it sharp for a long time and is easy to maintain. The handle is very comfortable and the texture gives me confident in my grip while using it.

Great cleaver

This cleaver is not as daunting in size, but still gets the job done of cutting through big pieces of meat, produce with little effort needed. With the Four Star, this is a little bit lighter of a knife in the handle, providing a nice weight to it. Also with the Sigmaforge aspect of the knife, this is a sturdy and durable cleaver. A great addition to any kitchen.

This great cleaver can chop through a chicken bone with the greatest of ease. It makes breaking down a chicken a simple, quick process. It has a lighter handle so it's not too heavy to use chopping larger vegetables, like cabbage or a hard squash.
Four Star is forged from high carbon German steel and made in Germany just like Pro so you get incredible sharpness, great edge retention and a knife that's going to last a lifetime.

Now that's a cleaver

In researching cleavers, I found one difference to be forged vs. stamped. A forged cleaver has a bolster, or a noticeable piece of steel between the blade and the handle. It's surprising how much weight that adds to the cleaver. And if you're using the cleaver to break down chicken or other large tasks, that extra weight can be helpful.

This is a tried and true line for last 40 years!! The 6" cleaver is an user friendly. Not too heavy to hold and the handle is smooth and comfortable. I like using this cleaver when I need to crush a lot of garlic and ginger for recipes. It is an obvious choice for hacking through bone , but also thin and maneuverable for slices large quantities of vegetable and meats. Approachable, easy to handle . Fits nicely in my butcher block!

This Four Star meat cleaver i made of proprietary special formula steel high carbon NO STAIN steel. This knife is heavy enough to cut through bones effortless and less fatigue. It is also great for cutting big chunk of meats. Very useful addition to you kitchen tools collections.
