Great Starter Set

This is a great starter set for anyone starting on their culinary road. The knife set includes the top 3 knives any kitchen should have - an 8" chef's knife, a serrated knife, and a paring. Blades are made out of high-quality stainless steel so durable and won't rust. A nice bonus, the block contains steak knives.

Don't Wash These

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great knives, but they say "dishwasher safe." If you want them to look washed-out and lose the black shine, then put them in the dishwasher. Otherwise, hand wash them. Very disappointed they are labeled as such, because they should not be.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I am very happy with this set. The stainless steel blades are super sharp and very easy to maintain. The handles are very comfortable to hold. This set takes care of all my cutting needs. The paring knife is perfect for peeling and shaping in hand. The small serrated knife and bread knife are amazing for breads, tomatoes, citrus and anything else with a tougher exterior and soft inside. The santoku is perfect for my vegetable prep with its slim profile. I use the utility knife for slicing my cooked meats and the chef's knife handles all the large jobs. The scissors are sharp and comfortable. I love that it also comes with enough steak knives for entertaining so I can have a nice matching set on the table.

It you are looking for a block set of knives that won't break the bank, you should consider this set. Nice collection of knives for all my kitchen needs. One piece construction, gives me the durability I need, and is well balanced and comfortable. Love that the steak knives are included. One less thing to purchase!
