stunning and so smart!

I was looking at this Modernist set many times. it was beautiful but I just couldn't justify it because my knives worked perfectly fine, just not as lovely to look at or hold! When I saw that they made it with a self sharpening block the decision was made. This allowed me to get the knives I have always wanted but now they were upgraded! the self sharpener is awesome, I don't have to drop my knives off to my butcher just when I need the to be sharp the most. Its a perfect assortment of kitchen knives and We were blessed to get 6 amazing steak knives too. My old ones barely had an edge left. This was my favorite purchase of the year!

Good, but lacking in quality

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I just received my set this morning and upon opening I’m hoping I just got a bad set because 2 knives came with rust spots, 3 have gauges in the bottom cap, 4 have the coating on the handle damaged, and the pairing knife sits low and loosely in its storage slot (getting in the way of removing other knives). I haven’t used them yet, but I’m sure they are sharp and they feel sturdy. For the large price tag on these knives I expect more. I will attach photos but it’s hard to see. I am letting customer service know of the damage and will update if needed
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great Set Design

This is a very modern take on a knife block set. The contrast between the silver knives and the dark wood block looks great in my kitchen, and I appreciate the way the handles are two different colors. Being able to make sure that the knives are always as sharp as they can be is a huge advantage. I like that each slot is labeled for the specific knife that goes into it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I just set up our new knife set, but I am impressed! Henckels has a great reputation for quality knives and this set is not only attractive, it is also made to last. The knives are so sharp and I love that the block is labeled. The one thing I wish is that there were more pictures of the block put together. It looks to me like 2 of my knives aren’t sitting right, but I can’t really tell as there is only 1 picture on the outside of the box with all knives in place. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase and am looking forward to many years with this set.

I never knew Self-Sharpening blocks existed. Why the heck doesn't every block do this? As long as you read the directions for maintenance and care, it's easy to keep sharp.
I would recommend this to a friend!

what i have been looking for

This set has everything ive been looking for. First they are quality blades from Henckels. I love the feel and the design. They look and very nice on my counter. Second they are very comfortable so they are a joy to use.This is truly a full set even including the steak knives that look great on my table as well as in the block. The self sharpening block is a big plus. I have always struggled to keep my knives sharp and this set takes care of it for me. A great product.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Knives look plenty modern and well-made. The butcher block is solid. I have yet to do the tomato test. Scissors feel plenty sharp. It came well-packaged too. - Angle of parer and serrated utility in block is off though. Will see instructions for that or maybe it’s supposed to be like that.
