[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love the color and function of this Dutch oven. Beautifully red, and it cooks to perfection basically anything at all. Highly recommend!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a great size for cooking a big family dinner. Used this to make a bolognese sauce for 11 people and it had room to spare. To make a proper bolognese sauce takes at least five hours of simmering anger evaporating away milk and wine. The cast iron was perfect at distributing the heat evenly to maintain an extremely low simmer that steel or copper pots cannot. This is an heirloom product that will last a lifetime with proper care. Staub is my favorite cast iron cookware.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As a fan of Staub products, I couldn’t wait to purchase this larger version. The size is perfect for making large batches of soup and flips easily to being a perfect roaster for Sunday pot roast. I remain a satisfied, happy and loyal customer.
I had realized that I had smaller pots and I also had the giant Staub but I was missing this size. It came and 3 days later I cooked ribs in it. It was perfect. I know I'm going to use it a lot.
Staub pans heat up quickly, evenly and retain heat for hours. Conversely they hold cold for hours as well. I like to use this pan for pasta salads in the summer. I freeze the pan for a couple of hours, add the salad and go. No cooler needed. Make the meal in the cocotte and then use it as a serving piece. The cherry color is gorgeous, a nice addition to any table.
I love this size and I love this shape especially for roasting chickens or baking a boule of sourdough bread. You have enough room to add all of your vegetables in with the chicken, which is a huge plus. For baking bread the cast iron is perfect because it conducts heat so well, and retains the heat. The spikes under the lid collect moisture and self-baste whatever dish you are baking or roasting in the oven, all while it is cooking, so almost like you have an extra hand! You get to take all the credit though! Bread does come out perfect when baked in a staub and your chickens will come out juicy and golden brown.
