I’ve had this wok for about a year now. The color beautiful and the shape so great for many different things. I came to this site to read the reviews because every time I’ve used it, no matter what I’m cooking, the food sticks to it. I came here hoping to find a solution or to see if maybe it was defective but I see from the reviews, I am Not alone! Super disappointing to read that I need to use excessive amounts of fat in order for foods not to stick.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The black matte enamel surface is not non-stick. Using oil will prevent most sticking, yet there still may be sticking which helps to brown, braise, and reduce your meals better. Over time your Staub pot will naturally create a non-stick surface on the bottom So, although it does not need to be seasoned, we recommend that you do; over time you will have a smoother, less sticky surface. But for actual cooking, it is NOT non-stick. It is a case-by-case basis where you will need to experiment on your own. If you do try your recipe without oil, and it sticks, you can soak the pan for a little while in warm water with baking soda, and use a little baking soda on a washcloth / sponge. It should come right off.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve use staub products before. Perfect searing every time, awesome product to braise meats. It’s very versatile and unique
I originally purchased this pan for stir fry and dumplings. Quickly came to realize this pan is a great braiser, roaster, deep fryer, and fry pan. Love the rack that fits on one side of the pan to drain deep fried foods. Perfect for Super Bowl Sunday gatherings and the best pan for homemade donuts!
