The wood block was well made but the slots are standard and not customized to fit the set you order. The smallest knives were very loose in the slots and that presents a danger in my opinion. Returned whole set.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The size of the slots allows for enough room to remove the Knives in and out of the Storage Block safely and to keep allowing airflow around them therefore no bacteria can grow. Bought this set as my old knives just couldn't cut it anymore. These are amazingly sharp, and they look god as well as feel good in your hand.

Happy little...knife set.

Great set, actually large set. I just like quoting a certain painter. I was a little skeptical of the weight at first since I had been working with a bit heavier knives for several years. I have since gotten acclimated and enjoy using all of them. Notably, I really like the wider bread knife, helps with cleaner and straighter cuts. The non-serrated steak knives are great too, and probably get used most by the rest of the family. It seems like a lot of sets supply serrated ones. These have been smooth cutting for everyone who grabs them. Everything is nice, clean, and sharp. Longevity is difficult to tell after just a month of use, but this set is definitely better than my last one, so I am sure it will hold up.
