The color cartridge fit in the place for it but was not recognized. It was advertised to work but it didn't. False advertising.I have an HPdeskjet 6940 a very old printer.

Hi Albert Most likely you encountered an instance of the printer not recognizing the cartridge was new. This event happens occasionally but I know it can confuse customers. Try to turn off the printer and unplug it. The printer might recognize it if you restart the machine and put in the new cartridge. You might consider reverting the firmware of the device.
