After 2 weeks my printer started printing in odd faded colors. Printer app said cartridge was counterfeit or used .

Hello Carol If the cartridge is printed for two weeks it is genuine. You can verify this information at www.hp.com/anticounterfeit/. If there is any way to clean the cartridge I would recommend it. Sometimes a dry cartridge is a cause. Be mindful of using thick paper color cartridges and photos. I would also research or contact support about the error messages.
