I've never had this happen before. The black ink cartridge ran out of ink after printing approximately 18-20 pages.

Hi Janice What happened with this cartridge is a fluke. HP maintains very high-quality standards. On rare occasions a damaged or defective cartridge will reach our customers. I always recommend trying new cartridges immediately to see if they work. Also check the ink levels in the printer as soon as the cartridge is installed. I purchased this double pack as replacements for my HP DeskJet 4155e printer. They were easy to replace & both so far are working perfectly as these are the 1st ones I have had to put in I will have to see how the length of time of usage lasts. But so far the quality of print is very good.
