Purchased the multi pack and unfortunately the black ink produced a partial print. Tried shaking the cartridge and reinserting without success

Hello Janet It's unfortunate you experienced a partial print. I would love to help you as much as I can. First check the cartridge ink level in the printer. This gauge shows the percentage of ink left. If there is ink try cleaning the printer rollers of the printer. Printer maintenance helps after the previous step. After installing all the cartridges my printer gave an error that the Cyan cartridge was "missing." I reinstalled the old Cyan and it was fine. I reinstalled the new Cyan same problem. After 7 times of swapping back and forth and cleaning the contacts with alcohol the printer finally recognized the new cartridge. Then I printed eight 8x10 color photos and the 3 color cartridges showed only 1/3 ink remaining. I know that the color cartridges are only "Standard Yield " but come on! And 4 of the photos printed had red blotches in the top left of the photo. I will have to run a printer alignment test to confirm that was not the issue.
This is a great ink cartridge. You can fet alot of photos from it and great color.I got about 40-50 8.5 x 11 color photos from it.on glossy paper before it starts getting low.The black does last longer with just black an white printing.I used these alot. They do ten to be on the high side at Staples I guess because of the chip for the printer cant used cheap off name brands because of that..wont work.
Hi Robin Your experience is frustrating. I completely get where you are coming from. Did you receive any error messages? Error messages are caused by the syncing of the printer. If it does not recognize the cartridge it will not print. I would also clean the cartridge and check on any recent updates. If nothing works return the cartridge at www.staples.com/sbd/content/help/shipping/. Amanda HP Care www.hp.com/support/
