Bought extra ink because the printer only comes with starter ink which we were told is about 20 pages of printing. After setting up printer we did sign up for the 6 months free ink program then it's a monthly fee after that. I'm hoping that program works well. The extra ink will be a good back up. Very easy to install in printer. Before inserting the ink into the printer you have to take of a large orange tab and it can be very hard to remove.
Not sure why but there's a color line going through everything color

Hello Mary Anne I am sorry for this happening to you. This is more likely to be the printer rather than the cartridges at fault. If the line is horizonal it is probably that the alignment is off (fixed by an alignment routine from the printer menu) or there are clogged inkjet nozzles in the printhead (fixed by cleaning the printhead). A vertical line indicates a paper feed problem. The stack of paper might be too tall slightly dirty or not perfectly straight. The rollers might need to be cleaned. (You can look up the procedure online.) If you think there was something wrong with the cartridges you can look into returning them. The pages printed are clear and crisp; however printer ink is quite expensive. I appreciate the promotion coupons that Staples offers to help bring down the cost a little
The ink is fine although it’s God-awful expensive. I hate the hp printer that I am using it with however. It’s unreliable sucks ink and frequently puts out smeary copies
