These cartidges fit both of our home inkjet printers the 8600 and the 8600 Premium. The cartridges have been easy to install from the start and we have been using them primarily for printing documents and Excel files (both 11 inch and 14 inch paper applications). It is well worth it to get the XL for the black because we seem to do more printing of correspondence and the Excel files than we do graphics. That way we don't run out of black very often. The print quality has been very good. I would highly recommend this package!

HP ink cartridges

These cartridges are a big improvement over the 02 ones I used in old printer. They were bulky to store whereas these are flat and compact. They are very easy to insert and know they are in tightly. I haven't had the machine long enough to know about the length of use but I'm sure I'll be happy. Price was just about same as old printer but that one took 5 different cartridges.

Staples has a great value. The ink last a while. I print many papers for school and the ink seems to last a while. I have been printing and I probably only print 50-100 pages a month and I have been in school for 2 months and the ink showing on my printer is still full.

I know it's not the ink's fault but the printer it goes in (HP 8600 PRO) is horrible at reproducing photographs. And the ink is WAY too expensive.

My daughter uses the printer heavily for college. The "XL" cartridge really is (comparatively) economical for this use. The "extended" black ink runs out at about the same time as the "regular" colors do so it's simple to replace them all at the same time.
