HP Ink is a very good quality. Another brand which I use on a different computer which is much more expensive smudges when I use a heavy paper. The mark-off less expensive alternatives are not as good with complex projects. How ever it is still very expensive

Ease of use and Color quality

The ease of determining ink levels is important and there always seems to be enough ink left so that I need not fear running out in the midst of an important print job. The clarity and consistency of the ink are remarkable so that I need not fear fading or distortion of documents or photos. The drying times are brief enough so that finished documents can be used almost immediately. In addition the added ink in the XL cartridges allows for longer times between purchases which in turn allows for finding or waiting for sales events.
