Disappointing Cooling Performance for 6000 BTU

I’m disappointed with the performance of this air conditioner. It is advertised as 6,000 BTU, but in real-world use it does not feel anywhere close to that capacity. I tested it inside a vehicle, and during the daytime it was simply unable to cool the interior effectively. It performs somewhat better in the evening when the outside temperature drops, but during a hot day it struggles significantly.
Another issue is the power consumption. Mine draws around 700W while running, which is very high for a portable camping air conditioner, especially when using a battery or portable power station.
What concerns me most is that the compressor frequently shuts off even when the desired temperature has not been reached. The vehicle can still be noticeably warm, yet the compressor cycles off instead of continuing to cool.
For something marketed as a 6,000 BTU portable AC, I expected considerably stronger and more consistent cooling performance, especially considering the approximately 700W power draw.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Very Happy!

Bought this with my RV trailer in mind. Received very quickly! Super easy to set up. I tried it out in a bedroom since it was about the same square footage that relates to this unit. Very impressed, not only did it cool the room down to a comfortable temp and pretty quickly I might add, but it is so quiet. I expected it to be loud but quite the opposite. It would not interrupt sleep at all. My trailer is 23 ft so I am sure it will do a good job. Would recommend!

This unit performs exceptionally well in my minivan or pickup truck when the vehicle is stationary and requires interior cooling. Instead of utilizing vehicle's air conditioner, I can simply activate this unit to cool the vehicle. It can be powered by either a generator or a solar inverter.

Houseboat Lower Berth A/C
on July 31, 2026

I purchased this unit to use in the lower berth of my houseboat which is approximately 400 square feet. I vented the unit out a side window with 10ft of 4in insulated flexible duct. The heat from the unit and the flex duct canceled out the cold air from the unit. I’m in the process of redoing the exhaust run with the duct hose that came with the unit and actually try to route it directly out of the berth into the gunnel of the boat. Hopefully the unit exhaust has better flow and the unit doesn’t get hot. Also the blue light on the unit lit up the berth like I had a light on. I actually turned off the unit and opened up the windows. Stay tuned for the next chapter!

The unit functions as expected. Used it only one time so far on a tent camping trip.

Using for small bedroom - needs window kit

I bought this for a small bedroom and I had to buy two other things with it in order to use it for a bedroom. I had to buy a 4 inch hose window kit, and an insulated sleeve to cover the exaust hose and reduce heat infiltration. This AC uses a 4 inch exhaust hose, not the usual 5+ so what you need to search for is a 4 inch dryer exhaust hose kit, and buy one without a hose since all you need is the window mount.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Extremely disappointed — Poor cooling and massive
on July 27, 2026

Bought this Waykar 6,000 BTU unit specifically for summer camping in my tent/camper, but it completely failed to deliver. Weak Cooling: In 90°F+ weather, the unit barely lowered the air temperature inside a small tent, even after running for hours.Battery Drain: It draws nearly 600W continuously, even in sleep mode. It completely drained my portable power station in less than 2 hours, making off-grid camping impossible.Bulky & Poor Build: It weighs over 30 lbs with no wheels, making transport a pain. To make matters worse, one of the duct hose attachment clips snapped on the very first use.Save your money and look for a more reliable, truly energy-efficient portable AC. Returning this immediately.

Bad product

I bought this unit just days ago and took out of the box it had a rough finish looked like something got in the paint, it worked for about 15 minutes and then the compressor kicked off and it stopped blowing any cold air. Was very disappointing as I travel and sleep in my truck so now back to square one! I looked at a lot of different ones and this one had great reviews don't know how that's possible!
