[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was so happy when I was selected for the singer sewing machine, I’ve always wanted to learn how to sew so this is the perfect motivator. I love how efficient the machine is. Very simple to set up and with the help of a few tutorials videos I’m hoping that I’ll be a sewer in no time!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I live in a small NYC apartment, and I've struggled to find a sewing machine that is both durable and compact. I think I've found that now and I am so happy!

Small, Lightweight Household Sewing Machine

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Terrific light-duty machine! I grew up learning to sew on a 60s-era Singer beast that could tackle most anything: complex suit jackets and dresses (even one of my prom dresses with zipper and piped bolero), costumes, hemming curtains and making a lot of everyday clothes. Massive pedal that was fussy, weighing a ton, but able to sew pretty much anything you threw at it, as long as you wanted simple straight or zig-zag stitching. When I went to college, bought a Singer for myself for basic tasks, like hemming or repairs. Sadly, in the ensuing years and multiple moves, it went missing. So when I had the opportunity to test this from Influentser, I was super excited!
This is a machine which fits right into the sweet spot for most households; lightweight with convenient carry handle. Small footprint easy for storage (in the included storage bag), and pretty straight forward. Used it right away to repair hems in a couple skirts and it certainly did the job.
The self-threading needle is a bit tricky, but nothing too awful. There is a convertible base with included storage area for a few accessories, bobbins and such. While I didn't try sleeves or pant hems, the convertible base would do just fine.
Do I think this would be good for heavier-duty jobs with multiple layers of heavy fabric? Not really. But then again, most households don't do that kind of home sewing anymore. Will I hem my own jeans? Likely!
The one feature lacking which I really miss is a built-in light. Even a little LED shining down on fabric would be helpful. Not having that, and the odd threading mechanism, were the reasons for taking a star. However, I feel so much better having a machine to take care of simple, everyday tasks I hated to send out when I was perfectly capable of tackling them myself.
