[Honest Review] Finally fixed my home network bott

Home Network Setup with Wi-Fi 7 Router & DMS-105
My current home network setup starts with the ISP-provided modem/router combo, connects to a standalone Wi-Fi 7 router, and then runs directly into the D-Link DMS-105 switch hub I recently purchased. Since I frequently transfer large edited video files to my NAS and move massive amounts of data back and forth, the ISP's stock equipment just wasn't cutting it. The ports were limited, and whenever my family members watched YouTube or streamed 4K Netflix at the same time, I would experience micro-buffering or major drops in file transfer speeds, which was incredibly frustrating. I finally decided to upgrade the core wired section of my house to a 2.5Gbps high-speed environment by adding this product, and honestly, I couldn't be happier!
Instant Setup! The Pure Convenience of Upgraded Cables & True Plug-and-Play
The best part of this experience was the dead-simple setup process, which even someone who knows their way around tech would appreciate for its zero-fuss design. There is absolutely no need to log into complex web management pages to assign IP addresses or install annoying proprietary management software. After swapping out my old, degraded Cat5 cables for higher-bandwidth Cat6 and Cat6a cables, all I had to do was plug them straight into the DMS-105. The device automatically detects the link speed for each port and optimizes the bandwidth instantly right out of the box. Not wasting any time or getting stressed over network configuration—while instantly enjoying a 2.5G high-speed environment—is the biggest selling point.
Zero Fan Noise & Unmatched Stability During Heavy Multi-Tasking
Since this switch sits right on my desk, I am quite sensitive to noise, but this device features a fanless design that makes it completely silent. Instead of a fan, the entire chassis is built out of a solid metal housing that effectively dissipates internal heat. Even when I push it to its limits by transferring massive amounts of data for hours, it sheds heat quickly and remains highly stable. The reliability is outstanding. I can download hundreds of gigabytes of backup files on my PC while simultaneously streaming 4K video and hosting a live video conference, and I don't see any stuttering or audio-video desync. It handles bandwidth allocation flawlessly, ensuring that speeds don't drop even when multiple devices are hogging the traffic.
The Frustrating Port Layout That Ruins Clean Cable Management
However, there is one glaring design flaw that I found highly inconvenient during actual use. Aside from the fact that one of the five ports must be used as the main internet input—leaving you with only four usable ports—the physical layout forces the power cable into the back while the Ethernet cables plug into the front. This forces a messy, cluttered web of wires across your desk. For someone like me who loves a clean, minimalist desktop setup, this is a major downside. It would have been infinitely better if D-Link had unified the layout by placing the power port on the same side as the Ethernet ports, or put the power jack on the side, leaving the front completely clean with just the LED indicators to show the link status.
Final Verdict: The Best Choice for Home Offices & Heavy Data Users
Despite the cable management layout, it is rare to find a product at this price point that delivers such massive speed improvements, complete silence, and rock-solid stability all in one package. If you can compromise on cable management or hide it away nicely under a monitor stand, I highly recommend this to anyone looking to build a snappy home office or anyone who frequently moves large volumes of data!
I would recommend this to a friend!

This is an excellent, no hassles unmanaged switch; allowing you to add or connect additional 2.5G ethernet devices to your router. Great when your router has only one 2.5G port or if you need to add-on additional high speed ports. Great value and non-TP link, at least we are albeit more assured of the security of our data.
