Received one of these in a package, drill, impact, 2x batteries, charger and USB battery adapter.
Use of the drill was minimal and light. Small pilot holes in wood. Changed gate latches. Odd fence board. That sorta thing. I’ve always kept it in the carry bag, stored in the house closet when not in use. I went to wire wheel a piece of metal before paint prep, an the drill started smoking and started on fire. Some sort of electrical issue in the motor by where the flames originate from. (No, it not the electric motor sparking. It actually billows smoke with flames!
I can reproduce this effect, alas you don’t support video upload.
Poor workmanship / design IMO.
I’ll be going with another brand (US city name) next purchase. I have that brand at work and they have never let me down.

Bought this in a combo - glad I did!

I needed an impact driver and ended up with a combo that included this drill driver as well. I already own an 18v Dewalt drill/driver and liked how solid and robust it is. This 20v one is SO MUCH LIGHTER and at the price, I'm not as paranoid when I'm using it. Perfect!

Have only had this for a short time, but has been a joy to work with. Sturdy, easy to use with power to spare. Stepped up from cheaper models and glad I did. DeWalt certainly puts out a product worth owning.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was my first DeWalt power tool and I love it! Fairly inexpensive and very easy to use. I made a wood headboard using the driver. I did it with no help becuase of how easy the drill made the job. I recommend this tool to all my friends and family. Can’t wait to get more DeWalt power tools!

Does what it has to do

Didn't stop using it for a little over a year. Had countless drops off the ladder. It got put to work every day for a year straight. Recently it doesnt tighten down or loosen , but ill get it repaired and go at it again. I will buy the combo set again once these go out if they ever do. Stay building people its good for the soul. Take care. buy this drill works perfect

Bought this drill/drive last year to have around the house to do simple house hold repairs, nothing heavy. Used it a total of 4 times, the last time it was used the clutch/chuck mechanism gave out. When drilling the bit came loose, when tightening the bit in the chuck , it would make a stripping sound. I don't trust this device to preform safety. It must have a design flaw. Dewalt might want to re-engineer its design. Don't invest in this tool.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Amazing quality and features.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Drill is amazing! I have had it for a few years... still in great condition. I use it for projects around our house. This is a big upgrade from the Dewalt 18v drill. Has a ton of power, battery lasts way longer than the 18v and is lite weight. Would recommend to a friend.

busted chuck

I have owned this for awhile, it has been fine however the chuck has stripped and so the drill is useless. Generally DeWalt had bad batteries and chargers but the tools were solid. this is disappointing
