Reeks of chemical glue/paint

Do not buy this for your child. I thought it looked perfect, but when I opened the package in my living room to assemble it, my child and I and my spouse were overcome with the smell of chemical glues and paint. The whole house stank, our eyes were watering and I was coughing as I assembled it. There is no way I would put it in my kids room to off gas while she sleeps every night.
I out it out in direct sunlight for 3 days and now it smells less intense but I am still not putting it in her room.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
