Battery Life is Horrible

Thanks for your feedback on our JBL Flip 7. The published up-to-playtime is the maximum battery time you will get when listening at background levels. As you turn up the volume, the playtime will be reduced, much like a phone battery when you brighten the screen. The same goes for source material. Music with more bass will also reduce playtime. It is possible that the battery is working correctly, but depletes more quickly when the volume is very loud and/or the bass has been boosted. Please try to charge the battery to 100% and then listen to music without any bass boost, and at a very low volume. If the battery lasts close to the published up-to-playtime, the battery is working fine. However, if you get less than 90% of the published spec, this likely means that the battery is losing its capacity. I purchased the Flip 7 to replace my old Flip 4, which, after many years failed to hold a charge. Given the sound quality, build, and usefulness of the Flip 4, getting a Flip 7 was an easy choice.

Crap battery life

This product claims to have up to 16 hours of battery life and that's a flat out lie. It took over 10 hours to "fully charge" and was completely dead after barely 3 hours of use at half volume. The battery life is absolutely trash on this thing and I'd recommend buying a different brand for the money. Jbl used to be good, don't know what happened, probably outsourced their parts and labor to countries with cheap child labor and it shows.

Higher volume and boosted bass will reduce playtime—similar to how a phone battery drains faster with a brighter screen. In many cases, the battery is functioning normally but depletes faster under louder listening conditions. To check battery health, charge the unit to 100% and play music at a very low volume with no bass boost. If the playtime is close to the published specification, the battery is performing properly.
