Review update; Used the W01781 bought from Princess Auto surplus to charge my battery with supplied cigarette lighter to clip on 12 volt terminal ends. It worked at - 21C. Thanks.
The boxed inverter generator was well packaged but I was baffled by the fact that I needed to remove a few Philips head screws to access the oil filler panel. What didn't make sense was including a flat head screwdriver. I for the life of me could not turn the screws with the included screwdriver. One more note is the bottle of oil sent with the unit is more than enough to fill the tank. Not knowing this I inadvertently over filled the unit with oil. When I checked with the dipstick it spilled out and onto my floor. I understand that the unit is powered up with oil and then subsequently drained at the manufacturer leaving some oil behind but filling the tank with the little bottle and continuously checking the level is odd. One would assume that the volume of oil provided was much closer to the amount needed. This left me with quite a mess in my shed but thankfully I didn't attempt this on my patio. The motor started up with one pull and ran very quietly. Overall I'm impressed but the initial setup took considerably longer than expected thanks to the wrong driver and oil spill and subsequent cleanup
Just purchased unit. Easy to start. Pretty quite compared to some. Don't like the fact you need to take panel off each time to check oil. Sorry after awhile screws wear out. Wished it had a fuel gauge or someway to tell how much fuel you have.
I bought it mostly to run a miter saw and small compressor. It struggles a bit withe either of them, especially at start up! You can't run them both at the same time (if the compressor is running don't start the chop saw) but I figured that when I bought it. I will probably buy a cordless miter saw to solve the problem but for right now this works fine. Good little geni. Easy to move & store. .
I investigated a few different inverter generators before buying this one. I'm happy with the results. It works great and wasn't very expensive. I use it to power a 6000BTU portable air conditioner in my truck while I'm sleeping. I absolutely don't like to idle my engine for extended periods.
Purchchased this unit in 2018 and used it several times a year. Then it was used daily during a few weeks of winter camping in Colorado, unfortunately it had a low oil failure. It was then that Firman proved that they are a stand up company, as after working with customer support to arrange the needed parts for the repairs under the parts warranty I planned to rebuild the unit. Instead they send me a gently used replacement so I would not have to bother with the repairs, even though they were no obligated to do so! I'm sold!
Pros: For under $600.00 you get a great Generator., Lightweight and Quiet
