Surprisingly, Charge 5 beat Extreme 3

I returned two Extreme 3 and got
two Charge 5 instead. Surprisingly, the Bass quality was better. Only slightly less loud. WAY more convenient size.

Disappointed

Returning. I wanted to love this speaker but I was disappointed with the sound quality and volume. You have to listen to it at 3/4 volume to get any performance at all from it, even inside, and even at full volume it’s not that loud. It’s just ok, definitely not what I was expecting at this price point. I have smaller (much cheaper) BT speakers that can perform almost as well, and similar priced BT speakers that have better sound quality. I thought this speaker would be a good mix of both quality and volume, but it’s not. At full volume it’s ok, but obviously the battery life is then diminished, which was another factor for me.

I bought my charge 4 while living abroad and gave it to my dad when moving back abroad. He loved it so much so gave in and said I’d upgrade to the bigger brother. Love my Xtreme 3!

Xtreme 3 is not worth the money

Longtime supporter, and avid user, of JBL. The JBL Xtreme Bought the JBL Xtreme 3 because the battery life on my JBL Xtreme 1 had got down to a couple of hours .
JBL has always offered one of the highest quality bass sound, that’s why I loved them. The JBL Xtreme 3 is trash. Sound quality is weak and over EQ’d w/ the treble register. Almost NO BASE!
Really heartbreaking that JBL has gotten away from what made they special… Speaker does work and has a nice shoulder stra.

Thanks for your feedback. All batteries, over time, will slowly wear down. When you first get a unit it may last 5 hours. Two years later it may only last 3 hours. This is normal. A good battery will keep more than 70% of its original capacity even after 500 charging cycles. What isn’t normal, is when a 12-month-old battery only lasts 15 minutes. Please do a factory reset on your JBL Xtreme 3 by pressing and holding the volume + and pause/play buttons for 5-6 seconds while the speaker is on. Then, pair your JBL Xtreme 3 to your source device before using an equalizer. If the troubleshooting steps do not work, we'd like to work with you directly to address the issues you're experiencing with your JBL Xtreme 3. If needed, we'd also like to get more information to check your options. Please contact our customer support service via our official website or toll-free hotline.

Don’t fall for personalization!!!! Waste of money

Absolutely the stupidest marketing campaign ever. They offer you TEXT but then put their logo/branding on top to completely obscure what is under it. It looks hideous. They could put their logo ANYWHWRE but no we have a good sounding but stupid looking speaker. Great idea for personalizing awful execution.

A Worthwhile Purchase

I love this speaker. The sound is very very good for a portable speaker. I was surprised at the quality of the bass and the mid range. The high end could be a little better, although it’s still better than I would have expected.
As with all Bluetooth devices, I get frustrated sometimes when I can’t get it to connect due to conflicting signals from my ever growing array of Bluetooth technology.
