equalizer feature in app not available in Canada

Out of the box this speaker has a fine well balanced sound. As does the Xtreme 2. But I bought the Xtreme 3 instead of the Xtreme 2 because the Xtreme 3 was advertised as being able to make use the equalizer feature in the JBL Portable app. To summarize the problem: when using the app to control the Xtreme 3 the equalizer feature simply doesn't show up. The problem is due to the speaker requiring a firmware upgrade that can only be done thru the app, but the app reports that the speaker already has the latest firmware release. JBL Canada tech support tells me they have raised the issue with JBL but a solution hasn't been provided. There are videos on the internet confirming that the equalizer feature works as advertised in the US.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Beware! My extreme 3 stopped working after 2.5 years of intermittent indoor use. Could not connect with any of my devices. I searched and found a possible solution to reset which didn’t work. Unfortunately I now have a new piece of tech JUNK to dispose of!

Excellent product - great sound

This is a great speaker with excellent and powerful sound. The base is particularly strong and rich for a small speaker like this one

I love the speaker I got it in December 2020 with a three-year warranty from Best Buy. The speaker ended up blowing about a week ago. Lucky I had the warranty because they gave me my full money back so nothing to be upset about. The only thing is, do I go and buy another one? I loved this speaker, so I’m really contemplating this great speaker though.

I like the little jbl Bluetooth speakers. This bigger one jist purchasd is as good as the other but louder and that's what I wanted. That plus the fact that on sale it was only $40 more than the smaller one made it a great deal!

Got it on sale for Black Friday and I love it. Great sound quality. Also, love the fact that I can buy more speakers down the road to add for a surround sound effect.

Loud enough even on a motorcycle

I bought the JBL Extreme 3, and with a couple of Velcro straps, placed it above the ignition on top of the handle bars of my V Star 1300. I synced the speaker to my YouTube music app, and can now enjoy my favourite tunes as I cruise the roads.
I have Cobra pipes, but the speaker has no problem overpowering even those.
