I just wanted it to work properly :(

I am going on my third JBL 9.1 sound bar because of issues in the first two. One issue I had was the right rear speaker did not want to pair with the sound bar. I tried a factory reset, but it did not help. There is no mention of pairing issues in the manual's troubleshooting section and nothing online referring to this. Another issue I has was the lack of the caps/covers provided for the sound bar. Online and in the manual these covers are clearly supposed to be included. For whatever reason, JBL decided not to include them in the North American version.
The third problem I had, which was seen in both sound bars, was a loud hiss being omitted from the rear speakers, most noticeable when paused. This hiss only occurred when using ARC from the TV, but not Bluetooth or passthrough. I tried a few things to fix it, but nothing helped. I tried to narrow down what the issue was, trying it on multiple TVs, passthrough and different HDMI cords. When I tried a different HDMI cord, the hiss was significantly dampened, but it was still there. I really doubt that all my HDMI cables are causing a hiss or allowing interference. Hence, it is most likely the bar, specifically the HDMI ARC port on the bar or something connected to it, was incorrectly sautered. Depending on the quality of the cord, more or less hiss/ interference will be transmitted.
I like the sound bar's look, and I really like the features, but the problems are not worth the hassle (for most). If you managed to get one without any issues, I strongly recommend getting an extended warranty of some sort.

After exchanging my first jbl 9.1 for another one exactly the same . I ended up discovering that all of them have the same sound cutting out problem. Sound is really great, but it doesn’t matter what you do the sound cutting out continues and There’s no how to fix this issue.

I love the sound bar but like other reviewers i find the lack of covers unacceptable for the looks. I got the covers from JBL for free!!!
DO NOT CONTACT JBL CANADA.
Get yourself a mail forwarding system from STACKRY or any other provider. Contact JBL USA by chat and inform them of the missing covers, here are the part numbers and they will provide it for free. All you have to pay is the mail forwarding service and shipping!

While the sound bar send to be working well, i did have an issue with the contents in the box.
When you take the rear speakers of the main bar, you are left with the sides of the soundbar looking unfinished. Same with the rest speakers, when you place then in your room, you see the unfinished sides of where it fits into the main bar.
I did think of this before i made my purchase, however, each and every picture shown in the website, both Bestbuy and JBL show that they include these end caps which fix this issue and make your system look great.
The problem was, these caps are missing from the box. After many calls to JBL, i found out that these are not available in North America.
I am left with what looks like an unfinished product. I feel i had the ol' bait and switch pulled on me.
So far, the only place to get these from is JBL UK for almost 300 Canadian dollars.
Not cool

Too Much Smart is Not a Good Thing

It took forever to set this system up. I purchased a new Samsung 65 inch QLED TV and paired it with a new internet service from Shaw. The TV and the soundbar with their smart features competed for dominance and tried to cancel out the actions of the others because each item wanted to be in control. Connecting to the WIFI was difficult and it took quite a few hours to finally override everything but in the end it was well worth it. The sound is incredible and the detachable rear speakers are amazing. I have chairs that have a USB connection of the side of the furniture so I can literally have the speakers charing continuously using those cables which are small and fairly discreet unlike miles of heavy speaker wirel. Again, the sound is great but one other con was right of the box it needed to run 20 - yes 20 updates which also took forever but again it was well worth the wait and the fight with all the smart devices.

Short and sweet version:
It sound amazing... when it works properly. I’ve encountered too many bugs over the weekend for me to enjoy this 1000$ purchase. I’ll be brining it back for a refund. It sounds really good but the software/firmware wtv they want to call it is horrible.

Let's see Samsung / Harmon kardon Q90R rrating.com gave it 8.2 out of 10. JBL 9.1. got 8.1 out of 10. Those are the top 2 Dolby Atmos wireless surround system on the market. The Q90R is overpriced costing triple vs JBL 9.1.
I previously owned the 5.1 JBL wireless system it was good but no mid range sound or limited. This one has it and way more watts 820 vs 510 and no dolby atmos on that one. Sound is well balanced and sub has lots of power 300watts 10 inch driver vs Q90R 160 watt self powered 8 inch driver JBL wins.
Sound bar of JBL has 400 watts it's a beast. My old JBL had 150. This is the last wireless surround system i will ever buy it's great.
JBL hit a home run with this one and it has Earc so it's future proof. Look ma no wires . Wired systems are dinosaurs this is the future no question who wants all the clutter.

The only competitor is the q90r Samsung/Harmon kardon dolby atmos system sadly that system only has 512 watts and doesn't have auto speaker configuration like the JBL. The JBL has an amazing 820 watts. And it cost rougly double the price not tripple as i stated before. Still a good true wireless system but JBL wins on power price and sound. Well done JBL.
Right out of the box the JBL has a well balanced sound profile very impressive dolby atmos system. Great for movies and music , games etc. Smart mode is for movies and standard mode is for music. Whenever you turn off the system it reverts to movie mode ( smart mode ) when turned back on. The remote has dual function buttons that are easy to learn. What can I say I'm blown away by the sound it's great it delivers the power of a good wired system at a great price.
The 9.1 JBL system also auto updates once connected to wi-fi. I used Google home app to set up the system very easy to do then I calibrated all speakers to my room with the built in calibration system very easy to do and no mic needed like my old JBL 5.1 true wireless system on this one it's built into the soundbar. Simply press hdmi button for 5 seconds and auto calibration begins. You have to do it twice. First put wireless surrounds beside you on couch I put them on my arm rests then calibrate. Next put them slightly behind you where the speakers will be permanently at ear height then do the second auto calibration....done it's that easy. And of course JBL included eARC so your future proof.
