Side speaker not connecting

Speaker worked great for a few month. then one of the side speaker stopped working. When i hit the power button the side speaker will connect and play for a few seconds then stop. Firmware is up to date. Disappointed seeing how much these speakers cost and they are already...not working correctly.

amazing but wish I could add a second Sub

This soundbar is amazing, truly better surround and Atmos than my far more expensive sonos arc system with powered rear speakers. Bass is good but I just with the soundbar or sub had a pre amp out to add an additional subwoofer or if there was an options to pair more than one. that would make it a 5 star

We're here to help with your JBL Bar 9.1. Please try using a different source, e.g., a phone or tablet, and connect via Bluetooth. Try using a different HDMI cable. Try connecting the soundbar to a different TV. You can also rest the soundbar. In any source mode, press and hold the volume-, volume+, and source buttons on the soundbar's top panel until the text display shows reset. When the factory settings restore is complete, the product automatically switches off and restarts. If you need more help, please contact our customer support.

Very happy with this soundbar for eARC ATMOS needs

After reading everything carefully and learning all the features I am VERY happy with the sound bar. Some things to note for first timers. If your TV has ATMOS and eARC make sure to set your TV to "PASSTHROUGH". It will send the 5.1 ATMOS single to the bar and the bar will display ATMOS for apps such as NETFLIX and D+ without having to use PCM. (PCM wouldn't cut it for me, passthrough worked like a charm, but be sure you have eARC or you will most likely have to use PCM.). Also using passthrough cleared up any sync issues.
If you are having problems with getting to calibration mode 1 after completing mode 2.. Turn off the speaker then turn back on and you can reconfigure Calibration 1.
To turn off Smart Mode (which will output general sound to all speakers when no surround is dected) Hold down the Mute button for 3 seconds.. LET GO OF THE MUTE BUTTON the press the volume up.. You will see a Display stating "SMART MODE OFF".. It was tricky to figure out cause I'd hold down mute and keep it pressed while I pressed the volume up.
The sound quality is amazing and the sub is very powerful. The fact I can keep my rears on the bar until ready to use without any wires is just Phenomenal for my home situation.
I'm very happy with the JBL 9.1 and look forward to more improvements from firmware updates.. Hopefully EQ settings for front, center, rear via Phone App or something.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Amazing surround sound!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been using this sound-bar for about 3 weeks now and it is a HIT. Previously I had the JBL 2.1 which was pretty good too but when I started using the 9.1, I could spot a huge difference in the sound quality. The sound is crisp, powerful and accurately reflects the surroundings of a scene on tv. The subwoofer brings any scene to life with its throbbing base. The subwoofer is larger than the one that comes with 2.1 and it could no longer fit inside my tv table cabinet and I had to keep it outside. Anyway, now I also use it to place my plants on :P The system is super easy to install and setup, sleek design, easily connects with HDMI ARC which allows you to control volume using your tv remote. Best feature about this sound-bar is the detachable side speakers that I can place on either sides of my sofa while watching tv and when done I can attach them back on the sound-bar. They quickly attach magnetically and auto charge which lasts for more than 5 hours easily. The remote is sleek and pretty easy to use too. All in all, I love it!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great Sound and easy wireless connectivity

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] OK, this is my first soundbar. It's got much more amplification than I need. And that's perfect. I'm not an Audiophile but am picky - 30+ years of working in broadcast control rooms does that to you - and the JBL Bar 9.1 checks all the boxes. It took less than 45 minutes from opening the shipping box to having sound that blew me away. All the speakers connect automatically, no extra cords necessary; the Sub has a separate power connection. Connectivity was important, as the TV has become the hub of my video experience, with both smart apps and DirecTV going through there. My Bar is connected to a Samsung smart TV via Optical Audio cable...and wow, what a difference between that and Bluetooth! With Bluetooth connection I had to go to 15 or higher but with Optical I can keep it at 7 and hear things just fine. Also, if you're direct connected the display tells what sound is being delivered to the dock - Dolby and/or Surround, etc. Maybe not necessary but a detail I expect on a high-end system. In addition to TV you can also simultaneously connect the phone, laptop etc via Bluetooth or a Connected Home system using WiFi. Source switching is done with the remote. One drawback - battery life on the detachable surround speakers. In normal use I get about 3 days between charges. So I am looking into directly powering them via microUSB. For now I leave them attached to the main bar unless I want surround effects.
As expected, TV and Movie sound is fantastic, especially on programs with Surround. That 25lb Sub woofer (yup 25 pounds!) makes for great rendition of all sound effects. The Sub has a separate 1 to 5 scale for loudness and I'm usually at 3. I have not yet optimized the room but suspect that will make experience even better. If you dig into the Owner's Manual there are directions/diagrams for that and for setting up the best DolbyATMOS experience by locating the surround speakers. And since they're wireless (yay!) they can be moved at will.
