Purchased this after our previous JBL boombox quit working. The sound and quality is not nearly as good as our previous speaker. Unfortunately it was a BIG step down.

Thanks for your feedback on our JBL Xtreme 2. We understand that it didn't meet your expectations. We're always looking for ways to improve and we'll make sure to share your feedback with the appropriate team. If you need more help with the unit, please contact our customer support.
I’m not gonna lie this is a great speaker it has good sound, battery life, the outside is pretty durable, BUT and this is a big but I have had Two of these speakers Stop taking a charge and Die on me for no reason. I only use the charger that comes with it too.I Don’t plan on buying another one just for it to Quit on me again.
This really is a great speaker, and I suggest you read the many positive reviews from others, with whom I agree. I highly recommend it!
However . . .
The only instructions available anywhere is in the form of a Quick Start Guide (found in the box and online), but even that is sorely lacking in some very basic information about the features and how to use them. But that’s it. There is no full User Manual. Anywhere. Period.
To cite only one example: There isn't even information in the Quick Start Guide about how to charge the unit, nor even a single mention of the Battery Indicator lights! In fact, while there are several diagrams showing the buttons and connections, and a chart that shows the different mode indicators, not one diagram even shows that there are, in fact, battery indicators lights!
If you want any detailed information beyond what the pathetically sparse, and poorly designed Quick Start Guide provides, do not look to JBL or Harmon. I can say that if you search online for specific operation info, you can find it from a number of different websites. But you will not find a User Manual explaining anything in more detail.
I have owned a number of JBL products over 50+ years and have always been pleased with them. But I have never seen anything like this from a company with such a great legacy. There is simply no excuse for any company to build a great product and not provide something as simple, inexpensive, and important as an actual User Manual.
I bought it a month ago, it is good. cheap good sounding, but there are problems too, first the input lag sucks, it feels like 1 second of input, but that's fine because I use it for music and out door use only, very durable and its nice that it can stand up and that's its easy to carry around. it is sad that you cannot EQ it thru the app but I just downloaded an EQ app. So the Xtreme 2 rating is 4.6 starts (Amazing)
The sales rep told me I could link the jbl speakers, when I tried to link them it would not accept my 4yr old jbl speaker. JBL has upgraded to link plus and therefore will not link to older models. When I asked the sales rep about this he told me to purchase a new system.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We're sorry to hear about what happened. Our JBL Xtreme 2 has the JBL Connect + feature. It can be connected with Connect+ enabled speakers like the Xtreme 2, Pulse 3, Flip 4, and Boombox. The following speakers have the JBL Connect function and can be connected to each other: JBL Xtreme, JBL Flip 3, Charge 3, and JBL Pulse 2.
