[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been a dedicated user of Lenovo Thinkpads for many years at work as a software engineer. When it was time to get a laptop for personal use in retirement, I stayed with Lenovo. I selected the P1 Gen 7 with Ultra 9, 64GB, 4TB SSD, and the 3840x2400 OLED display. I also picked up the Thunderbolt 4 Workstation Dock. After a month of use, I've been very impressed with the performance and the display is awesome.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Good quality machine with repairable components! Performs great right out of the box. I have a few non deal breaker issues. First, it’s a fingerprint magnet with its black coating. Its fans are somewhat loud but have a decent tone so it’s bearable. Lastly, and this is my biggest issue, the screen flickered uncontrollably when in 5g during initial set up. I had to lower the antenna power to medium which seems to have fixed the flicker. If anyone’s looking for a dependable and repairable machine with good performance for running simulations this is the machine for you!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really want to love this laptop. I am a video editor for work so I purchased this predominantly to work with Premiere. I haven't done much of that with it yet, but even just in much less intensive Lightroom, I've had several instances of it crashing and needing to restart the laptop to get the program to function. There have also been times when the laptop suddenly doesn't recognize the built in speakers and won't play sound. Extremely disappointing for a brand new laptop, especially at this caliber/price point. The screen is beautiful though, and when it works it works well.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I needed a new mobile workstation & fast - came across the P1-G7 and it hit all the important spec needs I had. I found the overall hardware build quality to be great and no issues with touchpad, screen, or operation. All works great and the performance is superb. Delivered quickly and easy setup. Only negative is there's only 1 USB-A slot. While we all wish USB-A would phase out - it's not happening anytime soon. So one keyboard/mouse receiver and you need a dongle to dance with USB-A. Yes, this is easily overcome with dongles but when you're dongle-less and need to pick a peripheral you're handcuffed. A question I've always had is how can Lenovo be so good at designing, licensing, and building machines comprised of 5-10+ hardware manufacturers (NVDIA, Intel, AMD, BOE, Micron, Samsung, Realtek, Qualcomm, etc.) but can't get logitech to make an internal unifying device? Latency on Bluetooth mice is not the same.
After using X1’s for about 6 years, I needed something beefier for video and number crunching. This fit the bill perfectly. A little larger, but not too heavy.
Recommend buying the OLED screen it looks great. Battery performance has been solid on cross-country flights.
