[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When I opened the box, I loved that it was plain and simple—no money wasted on flashy packaging, just a powerful machine and the charger. That alone told me this laptop was all business.
Performance & Power
This laptop is a beast. It runs my LLMs (“llamas”) like a dream and stays quieter than my 7-year-old Dell Latitude, even under heavy load. Some people complain about the size of the charger, but honestly—it’s smaller than the one that came with my Latitude. The laptop itself is also slimmer and lighter, despite packing far more power and a dedicated GPU compared to the old integrated graphics I had before.
Design & Usability
The touchpad gets mixed reviews, but as a blind user, I don’t rely on it, so it doesn’t bother me. It is a bit large, though, and could be annoying if you accidentally brush against it. The touchscreen, on the other hand, is something I really appreciate. Even though I’m blind, it makes certain partially accessible apps much easier to navigate. And when my wife helps me out, she loves the big, beautiful display. In fact, when Gen 8 comes around, I might pick one up for her.
Ports & Battery
I do wish it had two USB-A ports, but I’m slowly transitioning to USB-C anyway, and this machine has plenty of those. The battery isn’t hot-swappable, but it’s still easy enough to replace with just a few screws. That’s a solid compromise.
Extras
The speakers blew me away—amazing sound for a work laptop. The one real disappointment for me is the lack of an Applications key. As a blind user, I rely on it the way most sighted people use right-click, and while Shift+F10 works, it’s a bit tedious.
Final Thoughts
Overall, this is a sleek, light, and incredibly fast laptop. If you’re a software developer—or a blind senior software engineer like me—you’ll find the P1 Gen 7 delivers where it matters. A couple of small trade-offs kept it from a perfect score, but it’s still an outstanding machine.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This laptop is powerful but light. Out of the box was very easy to use and setup for our company. Meets all of the needs and requirements as we are very CAD/Revit heavy. Will be making this the standard going forward!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So far the laptop has been amazing. I am happy with the size/weight and the speed. I am not a fan of Windows 11 but I have been able to tweak it over time to be manageable.
