Although expensive, its versatility, construction quality, and performance are worth it for professionals seeking reliable tools to efficiently complete their work. This workstation is designed for professional users who require powerful performance and portability. If your work requires such equipment, then it is definitely worth considering.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Not living up to the price - It is much slower and not as crisp as I would expect from a $3K laptop. I am very disappointed. But I am stuck with it.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really like this laptop. I have always been a Thinkpad fan and have had them through several employers over the years. I even had one of the original IBM Thinkpads before Lenovo took over the brand. Things I really like about the Thinkpad P1
1) Fast CPU (on plug, more later) 2) Fast GPU (I got the 4070 version) 3) Potentially upgradeable memory 4) Expandable SSD storage 5) Haptic touchpad is better than anything I have used including Macs 6) Extremely solid build quality 7) Ports Selection is almost perfect. 8) Keyboard is PERFECT. I can type test myself on the TP keyboard at the same speeds on MonkeyType just as fast as my super fancy mechanical keyboard. I can get almost 80 WPM on this keyboard. I love that there is no ten-key. 9) I waited for a sale and the price was very good.
Things I don't like
1) Fans can get noisy at times while doing heavy workloads like local LLMs or gaming. 2) I would have preferred a micro-SD card reader 3) Pretty much nothing else... Almost a perfect laptop.
I had glitching screen problems with both replaced and returned product

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Amazing laptop. Lenovo of course. People keep mentioning how noisy it is but it really isn't if you customize the bios based on your needs.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great machine! I’ve loved this for the past few months. The touchpad is the best and the keyboard is smooth!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been using the ThinkPad P1 Gen 7 (16") for several weeks now, and it has exceeded my expectations in nearly every aspect. As someone who primarily works in data science, I rely heavily on performance, speed, and reliability—and this machine delivers.
First, the build quality is excellent. It feels premium and solid yet surprisingly lightweight for a mobile workstation of this caliber. The 16" screen provides ample workspace with impressive resolution and color accuracy, making it comfortable for extended work sessions, especially when dealing with complex data visualizations or coding environments.
Performance-wise, the P1 Gen 7 handles intensive tasks with ease. My data models are processing significantly faster compared to my previous laptop, which has already improved my workflow and productivity. The combination of a powerful Intel processor, fast SSD, and generous RAM makes multitasking smooth—even when running resource-intensive applications like R, Python, or large-scale simulations.
Thermals and noise levels are also well-managed. The fans kick in when needed but remain relatively quiet, and the laptop stays cool under pressure, which is impressive given its slim profile.
So far, I have encountered no issues or limitations. The keyboard and trackpad are comfortable and responsive, and the battery life is reasonable considering the performance this machine offers.
Overall, I highly recommend the ThinkPad P1 Gen 7 for professionals who need a balance of power, portability, and reliability. It's a solid investment for data science, engineering, or any demanding workflow.
