Customer Reviews for Lenovo - ThinkPad TrackPoint Keyboard II (US English) - Wired/Wireless Connectivity - Bluetooth - 2.40 GHz - USB Type A In - Black
This keyboard is super solid and the connectivity is steady and quick. The battery life is also beyond my expectation. No complaint at all. I have used different type of mechanical keyboard such as filco, leopold, IKBC etc and some topre keyboard, I still prefer this Lenovo keyboard.
The new design is very impractical ¬ functional

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I extremely dislike the layout of the new trackpoint buttons. I need to spend time with my fingers to find the middle scroll button, I keep accidentally pressing on the plastic between the middle scrolling and the keyboard keys. Same thing applies for left and right mouse buttons. I need to search with my finger to find where the buttons exactly is. The new button is flush with the keyboards plastic body unlike the of models. so if you press to the sides of the button, you actually cant press. I do not understand why do they keep changing the great functional design of IBM and keep worsening it. When I bought a new Thinkpad coming from a 10 y/o Thinkpad, I am expecting improvements, but all I see is the opposite.
I would recommend this to a friend!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Its compact design are useful for multitasking with paper and laptop and tablet all fighting for desk space. Its low profile makes the keyboard comfortable to use. Do keep in mind that the keys in the bottom left are not spaced like a standard keyboard, so pressing alt key blindly is a 50/50 chance of pressing the Windows key instead if you are not especially familiar with the ThinkPad layout. Fn key and Ctrl cannot be swapped, as others have mentioned and is very unfortunate.
It's ok, but pretty cheaply made. One of the feet has already broken and I've had it less than a month.

Because this is basically a Thinkpad keyboard, the typing experience is top-notch and perfect for professionals (e.g. software developers like myself) as a result. It was effortless to get it connect to Windows, Linux and macOS using either Bluetooth or the provided wireless transceiver. The build quality is excellent and it has a nice sturdy weight to it. Definitely the best wireless keyboard I've used.
The product has been satisfactory so far. I really like its size and the option to choose between bluetooth and the dongle. The keyboard also sticks to the desk well.
However, I have a couple of gripes with this product. Firstly, the product doesn't feel as premium as the the keyboard on the thinkpad laptops. The laptop keyboards are usually smooth to the touch and feel softer when bottomed out. The surface on this keyboard is rough (sandy) and feels like cheap plastic. Also, the keys don't feel cushioned when pressing all the way down, which is noticeable after long hours of use.
Second, there's no way to swap the Fn and Ctrl keys on this one. Bummer.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I love using this keyboard! The keys feel great. Battery life has been great. I love the trackpoint. It could use a few improvements in order to make it perfect.
1) I REALLY miss my fingerprint reader which I regularly use dozens of times per day. This means that I still need to keep my laptop open to access it.
2) I switch between two laptops dozens of times per day and wish it was easier to feel and use the itty bitty tiny little slide switch in the back of the upper right corner. I sometimes accidently switch to Android mode (the other bigger slide switch) instead but I am slowly getting used to it.
Suggestion A: Keep the existing switch for pairing only and use a FN key combination to switch between devices. I think this would be ideal!
Suggestion B: Replace the slide switch with a push button. Holding the button for 5 or 10 seconds would put it into pairing mode.
Either of these solutions would even make it possible to toggle between two Bluetooth devices and the USB dongle (see issue #4). The LED could then be used to indicate to which device the keyboard is connected.
3) As others have mentioned, it would have been nice to have the keyboard back-lit however, so far, my monitors have shed enough light for me to to see the keys in the dark.
4) I was VERY surprised that I could not switch between two Bluetooth devices.
Solution A: See #2 above. A better switching solution might make it possible to switch between 2 or 3 devices (only toggle between detected devices).
I could live with most of these shortcomings but really wish it had a built-in fingerprint scanner. I would have paid extra for that feature alone (maybe in v3?). In all fairness, I knew about most of these issues except #4 when I ordered this keyboard.
I have no regrets in my purchase as I love using this keyboard. It is definitely a keeper! If you are a TrackPoint fan and/or use a separate mouse, I highly recommend it. I would have gladly given it 4.5 stars if it were possible.
exactly same as the keyboard from my Carbon X1. Overall comfortable to type. but just feel the connection is a bit hard to switch. when I use the switch bottom from cable to Bluetooth/ receiver, there's no reaction. (vice verses) Therefore, now I mainly keep using one connection(receiver type). Also, occasionally, I feel it losses signal when i type some bottom. not sure is it a connection problem o is it a keyboard issue.
I would recommend this to a friend!
