I bought this antenna mast as part of a package. As simple as this mast is. This is poorly manufactured and next to impossible to assemble and utilize with the hardware provided. My advice is purchase a different mast or prepare to make several alterations for this mast to work. I rate this mast as a 0.
The inner diameter of the mount is 2 ½” wide while the mast is 1 5/8” outer diameter. You are unable to utilize the bolts to fasten the mast to the mount.
The mounting plate is not flat. The plate is curved side to side.
The hex screw is not 2 ½” long, it is only 2 ¼” long The 2 “carriage screws” that are inserted on the inside of the mast to fasten to the outside of the mount are too short at only ½”. The lags “mounting screws are 2” and are too long and will stick out if fastening to a 2x? board.
I ended up using 2, 3” long ¼’ bolts long enough to go from the outside of the mount through the mast and back into the other side of the mount. You could not tighten this enough that the mast would not drift downward from a straight vertical position. Once this was mounted I then put metal screws into the mount and through the mast to prevent the drift. Totally ludicrous.
Another obstacle I ran into was when fastening the dipole to the antenna, the bolts were too long and I had to shim out the bolts with washers in order to tighten. Otherwise, the bolt would have stripped out going into the antenna and still would not have kept the dipole secure.
Please look at the photos to more clearly observe the assembly problems and the mount quality.

The Heavy duty version

This antenna mast is a much different animal than the one that came packaged with the antenna itself. All around heavier gauge tubing and mounting plate. I ordered it because I need the 40 inch length afforded by this version in order to clear my roofline. One thing for antennas direct to consider is offering the customer their choice of mast when they place their initial order (I believe there are three lengths, which include the original). Even if a person had to pay a little more for an upgrade, they'd be better off since they would have the right unit from the beginning, and would avoid the waste of a separate, unusable mast rattling around in the garage or going in the trash.

40 in J-Mount

Great roof mount for OTA antenna. I thought be easier to mount the base to the roof first. Otherwise it would be hard for one person to mark, drill holes, screw base to the roof with the J-pole still attached. But then its a bit tricky to get the J-pole bolts adj bolts in place due to having to insert them from the inside of the J-pole. Aa better design might be to weld the nuts on the inside of the tube so one could easily insert the bolts from the outside.

This is truly a universal mount and it's solid.
I was able to position it exactly as I wanted it, mount it "upside down" from the image here, and then hang my antenna from it.
Quick note: the base is relatively wide, so you have to make sure you have the flush side of a 2x4 or something about the same to mount this sucker.

Well made accessory for mounting the good size antenna I was using it for. We had a severe thunderstorm roll through here a while back with very violent winds and this thing held up pretty good. I did have to go up and re-tighten a couple of nuts but that's it.....

Very good mount

The mount was easy to install although the directions were not too clear. I tried several different approaches until I was satisfied with the correct method to mount it. To my surprise the anchor bolts were included and self-tapping. It was not clear on where to place a grounding strap. I improvised.

Good Mount.. But..

I wish the antennas direct people would have given me an option for mounting to my HIP style roof. It wasn't until I got up there I realized one panel facing north is pointing upwards and the south facing antenna panel is facing downwards. Not optimum for reception. Make sure if you have a slanting roof to shim one side or something to get the antenna facing straight instead of too much up or down. I used the DB8e antenna to get Milwaukee & Chicago. Before this, I was using a Mohu Leaf inside my living room and getting channels I can no longer receive with the DB8e.
