When I saw this light I knew it would be great in the hall, I haven't tinkered with it much yet so maybe it can but I wish the upward light could be on without our the main down facing light.

The light is pretty good, but when you compare it to the larger model it leaves a lot to be desired. The app control isn't as fine tuned, it's harder to control the top ring vs the downfacing light. And the patterns aren't nearly as detailed.
Just keep in mind it's not the same light just smaller, it's also way less capable, and can't be controlled in a group along with the larger lights.
I would recommend this to a friend!
