[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Disney is BIG in our house with every family member. So when there's anything new under the sun with The Little Mermaid, you can be sure it will be high on the priority list.
Disney Princess Ariel was a big hit right away. The colors are gorgeous. The mermaid tones of pink bleeding into greens are always popular with our daughter and Ariel's lower body is a lovely example. Along the same lines, the textures are nicely implemented. This isn't a huge deal with our kids, but for some of the other children in the family with sensory issues, they loved the big scales, the smooth skin and the smaller "bumpy" scales.
The doll itself is beautiful with nicely printed eyes and features. Her hair has subtle braids that look very neat, although her non-braided hair has a tendency to get out of control, particularly after a swim.
Speaking of swimming, Ariel spends a lot of time in the hot tub or bathtub and she's a lot of fun. One thing we really love is that she floats nicely. When the bath/pool toys sink to the bottom, the kids don't seem nearly as engaged. They want to see Ariel swim, and she does! Her body acts as an air chamber and her fish legs are hollow, allowing the water to easily drain out.
Getting back to her hair, there was a little disappointment that the toy didn't come with a Little Mermaid brush. I know costs are being cut wherever possible, but for a toy with hair, there can't be enough themed brushes to keep the locks in shape.
Overall Ariel is a hit! She's definitely replaced older Little Mermaid dolls in the water playtime rotation and seems to hold up to soapy baths and the chlorine in the swim-spa. Especially considering the price point, this Little Mermaid is a winner.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The new Ariel doll is beautiful. Her warm skin tone is beautiful. I think she represents the character very nicely. The doll doesn’t come with any extras. Her tail is not removable either. I absolutely love her hair and the texture. I have never seen a Barbie with this hair before. She is fun to play in the water and my daughter loves playing with all of her mermaids in the bath. Overall, I would recommend this doll to anyone who enjoyed the new live action version of Ariel or to any collector.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The details on this doll are absolutely amazing. She has gorgeous hair that is easy to get out of the packaging and ready for play. The tail snaps in easily, making her a majestic mermaid. The only thing I'd change is making so her knees could bend. It would make it more realistic for play.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great doll for playtime. My daughter watches the movie and reenacts scenes with the doll. The tail has been misplaced quite a few times; however that doesn't stop the fun she has been having. Aside from the tail being missplaced it keeps my daughter entertained.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It does look like the character, clothes and what it looks like in the movie. Any child should be able to play with this toy with no problems. The only problem I have is the hair. Afraid that child cann swallow or pull out.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Absolutely perfect for bath time! My daughter is currently obsessed with the little mermaid and she was delighted to play with this toy! It comes with an attachable tail and her hair is so easy to brush through which you dont see with most barbies! Shes the perfect addition to our daughter's barbie collection
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This toy has a great concept.
However, once you snap the fin on, you CANNOT remove it. The fin is fabric and can easily rip.
The packaging was ok, except for the connectors behind the dolls head. You have to use scissors to cut the sturdy plastic connectors off, but in order to get close enough so the plastic isn’t poking out you have to cut some of the hair. We didn't want to cut her hair, so the plastic bits are poking out and scratch you as you play with the toy.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We used our Disney princess ariel doll in the bathtub and with our princess castle. We had to take her tail off during bath time so we didn’t get it wet. Ariel is very lightweight and easy for my daughter to carry.
