As advertised, and except for the end caps (metal screws), the tongue and groove construction was simple to put together and makes for fewer parts with metal to rust. Took like 20 minutes to put together from removing it from the box - instead of doing the three tier though, I did two separate planters with the smallest on top of the largest, to maximize planting area. Only unanticipated downside: there is no “bottom” to any of the tiers, so when you stack them, you are creating an area than needs uninterrupted dirt all the way to the ground through the three tier levels. I did a perforated liner on the ground level (heavy duty garbage bags with multiple holes punched) to prevent weeds from growing from the ground level through the planter. For people planning on putting this on a deck or balcony, you WILL need to purchase a separate base.

It was difficult to put the planter together because the boards fit together very tightly. Had to use a hammer and block to pound the boards into the grooves. Otherwise it's a great planter.
