Bought it to use for camping and had it stored in a garage. Used it a total of about 10 times over 2 years and flame stop igniting and then couldn’t maintain power even when plugged in at the house to inspect. Unfortunately out of warranty.

Hello, and thank you for your feedback on the Ranger Pellet Grill. Unlike other products that you may be familiar with, even if your Traeger is no longer covered under the warranty, you still have access to Customer Service for in-depth troubleshooting for as long as you own the grill. And since many issues can be resolved without needing a new part, it is very possible that the fix won’t even cost you a dime. However, should you need to replace something on the grill, not only are components less expensive than you might think, but we will also stand by our assessment if the item purchased was not part of the problem. When you have a moment, and are with the grill, give us a call at 1-800-TRAEGER any day of the year. There’s nothing to lose but a few minutes of your time, which is all it might take to get your Ranger up and running like new.

Followed the break-in directions but the Ranger didn't. The auger would not turn on. I did a regular start up and got it going. Heats up fast and it should as small as it is. It will be great for our travel trailer.

Hi, and thank you for your review of the Traeger Ranger. The initial seasoning/break-in process and a regular startup procedure really do the same thing, except there’s no food inside during seasoning. However, due to the extremely slow rotation speed, and because the auger spends more time paused than it does turning, it can easily look like it is not working, especially within the first few minutes of turning it on. But anytime you have questions like this on your Ranger, you can always call Traeger Customer Service. An agent will be happy to answer all of your questions and address any concerns you may have regarding the grill.

This grill, as most, has a learning curve. I have had it for 3 weeks and have managed to understand temperature in it. As yet, I am trying to understand cooking times as I seem to have most things I cook are ready to remove and rest earlier than expected. I have been extremely satisfied and simply fault myself for the less than perfect results I have had. Of 6 entrees I have tried, only one was entirely unsuccessful.

JUNK

Tried to burn up during break-in and doesn’t hold temps. I love my Traeger at home, some one should be fired for how bad this one is. Be better off just rubbing 2 sticks together. What a waste. Back to LP for camping.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hi Bryce, thanks for sharing your thoughts. Portable grills like the Ranger take a bit longer to settle on the set temperature and can fluctuate around 25°F above or below your target during a cook. Because of the smaller size, placing food too close to the RTD can make the temperature read lower than it actually is. Starting the grill on SMOKE or the lowest temperature and letting it peak before closing the lid helps it stabilize more quickly. Once it settles, you can increase to your desired cooking temperature and allow it to preheat fully. Following proper startup and placement steps will help your Ranger run more consistently and deliver the results you expect. If you would like further guidance or want us to review the behavior of your grill, please give us a call at 1-800-TRAEGER. TRAEGER

Auger fire all the time - Ranger
on February 22, 2026

I get an auger fire almost every time I use my Ranger grill and I clean it out with a vacuum every time. Garbage design, needs a deeper fire pit, junk.
Response from traegergrills.comBy Traeger Grills, Traeger, February 22, 2026
Hi Bill, thanks for sharing your experience. We would like to understand a bit more about what is happening. When you mention an auger fire, does it occur during startup or while cooking? Even with regular vacuuming, buildup in the firepot or grease tray can affect airflow. Please make sure the firepot, drip tray, and chimney cap are fully clean and properly positioned. Fresh, dry pellets also make a big difference. Pellets that have absorbed moisture can burn inconsistently and cause flare ups. It is also important to confirm all internal components are seated correctly after cleaning. Give us a call at +1-800-TRAEGER so we can review this step by step and help you get consistent performance. TRAEGER

Very impressed with this little smoker/grill

We purchased this little pellet grill almost 2 years ago with the intention of using it with our RV. Due to a health issue we are unable to travel as planned and the grill set in the RV unused since purchase. During house renovations our old pellet grill was damaged. Our contractor offered to replace it, but honestly it was having some issues so I wasn't broken hearted that it met its demise (it wasn't a Traeger just for the record and no my contractor didn't have to replace it). Since it just myself and my husband at home we really didn't need a full size pellet grill/smoker. My husband remembered we had bought this and I am glad he did because I had forgotten about it. I pulled it out of the RV, set it up and smoke a 7lb brisket as the first item cooked (go big or go home as they say). I couldn't go any larger than the brisket I used as it covered almost the entire surface of the grate, but at least it fit without being trimmed. The brisket turned out perfect. This little "portable" grill holds temperature better than our larger pellet grill/smoker ever did. Cook time for the brisket wasn't any longer than with a larger unit. It is pretty efficient on pellet usage as well. I fully expected to have to fill the smaller size hopper at least once after the initial fill. Just because I am me I topped it at the 4 hour mark (it didn't need it, topping it off just meant that I didn't keep running out to check the hopper every couple of hours for the rest of the smoke time). I am certain it would have made a full 8 hour smoke at 225 degrees on the initial fill of the hopper (no I am not using Traeger pellets another manufacturer has a competition blend that I love). The fact that this little grill heats quickly will make it useful for more traditional grilling of burgers, hot dogs, brats, etc. for dinner. I won't mention to the husband that his "impulse purchase" was actually a great idea LOL!
I would recommend this to a friend!
