GE Profile can replace 24” Spacesaver I or II

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Profile Microwave Oven probably works as well as any 800 Watt microwave could. It replaces a GE Spacesaver 2 which fit under my 24” cabinet. GE could have put the bolt holes in the same relative positions as the Spacesaver 1 and 2 so it could have been easier to install. They didn’t. The Profile did fit in the 24” space though its literature said it needed 24 7/8”. The microwave seems more noisy than my last one -perhaps because it has a turntable which is a feature I like. I’m happy that GE makes a 24” under-cabinet model

Under powered at 800 watts!

Many who buy this model do so because of its dimensions. It is the only microwave this size made by anyone I have found. Serious problem: it is only 800 watts. My older model was either 1200 or 1300. 800 will not cook popcorn— not by time or the popcorn setting. It brings the temperature up too slowly. Ultimately burns and leaves that awful burnt popcorn smell.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Love this microwave

This is my second GE microwave of this model. First one worked great for almost 10 years with constant use. It’s built into counter and very convenient. Looks great with the surround, which I didn’t have to replace. Great for reheating to cooking. 5 ⭐️!

Too wide to fit into a 24-inch space/bad display

We purchased this microwave as a replacement for a 2010 GE Spacemaker that worked well for us for 15 years until the keypad control failed. We liked the 2010 model so chose the new model as a replacement. The original Spacemaker was hung below a 24-inch wide cabinet using the specified mounting kit.
We encountered three problems with the PCHK11S1WSS replacement:
1. When we powered on the replacement microwave, the clock display flickered on and off randomly when the microwave was operating, so we returned it for a replacement. The good news is that our appliance store replaced it with another at no cost to us, even delivering to our house.
2. After receipt of the replacement we then discovered was that while the microwave specifications indicate 24-inch width, it will not fit in the same 24-inch space that worked well for the 2010 model. The microwave width is slightly wider than the specified 24-inches. It might fit in the same space as the original Spacemaker if we force it but it is slightly wider than the specified 24 inches.
3. But while the body is only slightly wider than the specified 24-inches, another approximate 3/8 inch is required for the door. Unlike the 2010 Spacemaker, where the door hinge was designed so the door would open within the width of the microwave, the replacement hinge is designed so that when open, a width of approximately 24-3/8 inches is required for the PCHK11S1WSS door/hinge.
For us, this has turned out to be a total bust. We're now interviewing cabinet makers to see if our cabinets can be modified to accommodate this approximate 24-3/8 inch wide microwave.

We are sorry to hear about the trouble with fitting the microwave in your existing space. We have changed some of the dimensions from our previous models. We recommend following the hanging kit installation instructions for the hanging kit WX4-A019.
