It’s a good product, but not great. I’m working to try and improve the last of my curl. My curling iron does a better job and takes less time…and is a fraction of the cost. For the price, it needs to be great.

Hello Jenn, thanks for sharing your thoughts on the Dyson Airwrap i.d. We are sorry to hear it has not lived up to your expectations. The Airwrap is designed to offer styling versatility with intelligent heat control, but we understand that value means something different to every user. We appreciate your feedback. Dyson does not want to provide such experience to its valuable customers. We would also like to learn more so we can learn ways to improve future services. I recently bought the airwrap i.d. to replace my original airwrap origins for long hair. It's basically the same tool with smart technology and a couple of different attachments. I absolutely love this tool. I can't believe I went so many years without it. When I first got my original there was a huge learning curve and I was not having much success with achieving the look I wanted. Because I spent so much money on it I was determined to figure it out so I watched at least a dozen YouTube videos with tutorials on how to get the most out of the airwrap and after enough practice I finally got the hang of it. The i.d. version works exactly the same way but you can connect it to your smart phone via bluetooth and the app controls each step: wrapping, curling, cool shot. You no longer have to think about it. I get that counting how long to curl your hair is not that difficult, but this version costs the same as the non-connected version (at least for now) so for the same amount of money why not get the more advanced version? You don't have to use the smart phone app if you don't want to. You can also customize the timings on each step to your own preferences. The conical wand is amazing. I was skeptical about it at first and preferred to use the larger straight barrel but after giving the conical barrel a shot I am hooked. I believe you can buy this attachment from Dyson so if you have an older machine but want to try the new barrel you can just buy one from them. All their attachments are interchangeable with all their machines. If you invest in this device I strongly recommend that you watch as many YouTube tutorials that you can and try each of their tips and recommendations. My hair is long and fine and holding a curl is a challenge. With the right styling products and the Dyson air wrap, I have far more good hair days than bad ones.
I have super frizzy thick hair and this has been great for it I always look forward to hair wash days. I love all the attachments it came with. I can style my hair so quickly now.
Some of the attachments don't fit nicely into the base, which seems ridiculous at this price point. I also think the lack of instructions in the package/easily accessible online for how to use the product is short-sighted. The videos they have online aren't really showing you how to use it in a useful, teachable way.
Otherwise, works great! Super efficient and comfortable to hold.
I bought this because I was out of town and my Airwrap died after many years. Two stores I went to did not have the regular Airwrap so I had to buy the Airwrap i.d. I am not a fan. I liked the cool down button & will never use the Bluetooth option. I did set it up just to see what it did, but I want to control my hair drying, not set up a program to do it. Also, the container is not nearly as good as the original. I liked being able to flip open the lid, & I feel that this is not as well made. I considered returning it to get the older option but decided it was just too much trouble. The smoother is nice, but I just turn the heat switch to cool when I want to cool down the curl. Not all improvements are actually improvements. Certainly wouldn't buy it again unless there was no other option - again.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hello, thank you for sharing your detailed experience with the Dyson Airwrap i.d. We are truly sorry to hear it did not meet your expectations—especially after many years of satisfaction with your previous Airwrap. We understand that not every upgrade feels like an improvement, and your insight on the features and design is incredibly valuable. We will make sure to pass along your feedback, as it helps us refine our products to better suit user preferences. If you ever decide to revisit styling options, we are here to help. I was skeptical, and truthfully intimidated by, the air wrap until I saw Briel Adams-Wheatley using it even though she doesn’t have arms. Her video showed how easily your hair just flows onto the roller and then easily comes off with a beautiful curl. No getting sucked up, snagged or tangled. That gave me the confidence I needed to try it. Now I love it! My elderly (63 year old) hair needs gentle low heat, and this air wrap delivers! I am still learning the best positions for my curls, but it is really easy to do. My hair comes out with smooth curls that last all day.
I wish I had the Dyson Styler years ago—it’s completely changed how I care for my hair. I have long, thick hair, and drying it used to take over 30 minutes, often leaving it frizzy or flat. With the Styler, I can dry it about 80% in just 10 minutes, and then spend another 10 using the brush attachment to smooth and shape it. The result looks just like a salon blowout—something I was never able to achieve with a regular brush and dryer.
Styling now feels easy and genuinely enjoyable—and the results give me a serious confidence boost. My hair looks silky, healthy, and styled in a way that truly reflects how I want to present myself. Even using the Airwrap barrels for waves adds only 20–25 minutes (which is reasonable for my hair), and I know I’ll get faster with practice.
I also love the overall design of the product. The case is beautifully made, and every attachment fits perfectly in its place—it’s satisfying to use and store. The device feels ergonomic and well-balanced, with a smooth, premium finish and elegant aesthetic. I’ve tested every attachment, and I enjoy switching things up to compare the results and refine my routine. It’s functional, intuitive, and just as enjoyable to use as it is effective.
