I have had the first version (with the elastic) and also the previous version before this (where it snaps back into place) The issue with the first was the elastic band snapping or losing its elasticity. The previous version I absolutely did not like as it was so loud having to snap the pop out part as it was a click into place type. This current version is worth it. Best prototype thus far. Still slim, still has that strong magnet, and the magnet click into place is the best. Wondering how they can make it even better, cause this version is great!
I love the charge-through ability. It’s the main reason I bought the Snap 4. I love sticking it to metal surfaces. However, it does need a wide surface to stick to. I have a shelving unit that has narrow bars and my phone needs to rest on a screw that slightly protrudes in order to stay attached. Otherwise, it slides down the bar. And because I have a heavy duty phone case, the Snap 4 can’t act as a phone stand. It rolls to one side and snaps shut when I try to prop my phone up. Maybe if it was hexagon-shaped, it would be able to support the phone. The flat side might give it just enough surface area to not roll to one side and snap shut. There almost needs to be a bigger, sturdier version for big phone cases. Overall, I’m happy with it. I’m glad I don’t have to take it off to charge my phone.
All in all, I love the Snap4 Luxe. I think it is more comfortable than the Snap 3 and feels much sturdier in the hand. It certainly feels like an upgrade and the ohsnap design is much better, to me, than their big competitors. My only complaint and warning to others, is that wireless charging, which worked fine with my snap 3 (on the same case and in the same position) no longer works with my Snap 4 for my Samsung S23. I've tried adjusting the grip placement multiple times (to the point that I ordered new ashesive for fear of weakining the existing ring) but it has not helped. My phone will start to charge but after a few seconds it disconnects with every wireless charger I've tried so far. A change in phone case might would resolve this but that's not something I'm looking into at the moment. Something about this new design makes the wireless charging less reliable overall.
I have no plans to return the grip though. It fills my needs perfectly, in general, and the loss of one feature of convenience doesn't outweigh the grips other strengths in my mind.
This thing is great and simple!! The great is that it is thin enough to use wireless charging and my original case broke so I had to move it to my new case and I just used patience to pull it off but without even cleaning it I was able to stick to my new one and it is on there really well. I am also really happy with the ohsnap having a great magnetic pull so anytime I set it down on metal(not aluminum) it stays where I put it!! the only gripe is it gets hot enough to be uncomfortable to the touch after wireless charging but cools down really fast(less than a minute) I just handle it a little carefully after I pick it up. Again GREAT PRODUCT!! Rob
I found that someone else felt the exact same way I did when I saw this review posted “I almost wanna buy this product simply based off how refreshing it was to see a genuinely good advertisement on Youtube. I willingly watched the whole thing. Props to the marketing department, gave a clear and easy to understand description of the product in a comedic way.”
I completely agree! I watched the ad multiple times, talked about it w a friend and even showed them. Remarkable work. To hold people’s attention these days is an art form and no easy task. Very impressive indeed!!
The magnetic closure upgrade is a game changer. I had two Snap 3s and they both broke at that connection and I was hesitant on giving a 3rd chance on this brand. Fortunately my gamble paid off.
