Absolutely love my ohsnap! It makes holding my phone so much easier and I love the fidgeting I can do with it, I also love the kickstand and the low profile makes me get the ick when I see anything but an ohsnap! on the back of someone's phone, I hope I see these more often. I have come across them twice in the wild and hope to see more people purchase them. Love the Forest green color! I stick my phone to the fridge when I am video chatting with friends, and am able to stick it on my cubicle drawer!
I was really looking for some type of pop out grip that could utilize pass-through charging and this seems to fit the bill. At first, I felt like the little spring mechanism felt a little flimsy but now I’ve changed my mind on that subject, and it seems to be very durable and robust. If there is one thing that isn’t what I quite expected it is the pass-through charging quality. Because the current has to pass through the oh snap mount, it has a tendency to overheat the phone and make it shut off charging continuously. So when I want to wirelessly Charge it overnight, I have to take off the cover or else when I wake up in the morning it will only be at about 50%. However, if I just need to charge it a little bit or to put it in my vehicle wireless MagSafe charger while I’m on the road it works well enough. This isn’t a defect of the oh snap mount it’s more about the limitations of the wireless charging effect (which is prone to overheating anyways) and how it will overheat no matter what if the current is passing through something to get to the phone.
I’m very glad I decided to get this, even though I’ve never seen the appeal of any of their competitors. It’s better not to go in with false expectations only to waste both your time and the company’s dealing with disappointment or returns though, so I thought I would share that wireless charging in my Tesla isn’t an option anymore. It just gets really hot without actually charging at all. Luckily, I mostly use a MagSafe charging mount in my car anyway (which it works great on and magnetically adheres to better than ever), but for all those Tesla drivers out there who like to put their phone there, just be warned. It’s not just that you need to be okay with no longer getting a few percent from putting your phone there when you drive, but you’ll actually want to avoid putting your phone there altogether, or putting it screen down or maybe laying it horizontally, to protect your battery from the heat. Trust me though, just get a MagSafe charging mount or do a MagSafe mod to your car’s wireless chargers. It’s worth having a Snap 4 Luxe on your phone. Or maybe just put it on a phone case instead of directly on your phone, if you can handle not living that caseless life.
Makes phone unstable if you want to lay it down on a table because of the raised bumps that let you feel which way to open the grip. Would be better if those were indentations instead of being raised so that the phone could be used lying flat on a table without rocking back and forth.
After using the grip for a few months one of the struts wants to bend the wrong way after using it with my finger inside the grip. This is easy to correct by pushing it back the other way, but it does mean it takes longer/more effort to close at times.
Aside from these two issues, still the favorite grip I have tried.
The Snap 4 Luxe is incredible! It is such a great improvement on the original design. Super thin you almost forget it's there. The magnetic snap closure is super satisfying and keeps working the same even after several months of use. Also very resistant to scratched my black one still looks the same way it did out of the box. This is a must have phone accessory!!! Also their warranty is great. If you ever have an issue just fill out a form online attach a picture of the issue and they will help you immediately!
The only thing I don’t like about it is it’s hard to get it to open at first but it’s pretty good I like it a lot! It’s also not very stiff which does suck sometimes when trying to hold it but I love it a lot!
