Honestly Disappointed vs. Gen 1 Grips

I backed the very first OhSnap grip and accessory ecosystem. All these years later, I decide to replace the Gen 1 OhSnap with the new Gen 4.I really wish I didn't. Yes, Gen 4 is thinner. Yes, Gen 4 more easily snaps into the mount. My biggest frustration is the susceptibility of the adhesive to moderate heat or moisture. After only a few weeks, I found my phone on the floor with the Gen 4 grip still on the charging mount. After cleaning/replacing the mount, I discovered that the slight warmth that builds up while wirelessly charging through my thin case and grip breaks down the adhesive, leading to phone to fall off the grip if I have ANY downward angle on the charger. At this point, the humidity of the bathroom was enough to start interfering with the adhesives grip as well.During the years that I owned the Gen 1, this was NEVER an issue. The grip did not once separate from my phone in spite of having the exact same setup, and mounting it on a magnetic mount in the shower daily. OhSnap sent me complimentary replacement adhesives, but I am having the exact same problem with the replacements. This doesn't even get into the ergonomics. Getting your finger into the grip was as simple as slipping your finger into a ring. Even with small hands and a large phone, it took no effort or thought to utilize the grip.Gen 4 on the other hand can is nearly impossible to extend the two-finger grip without using 2 hands for those with smaller hand sizes. Forget opening up the one-finger sleeve using only one hand. I shouldn't have to conduct daily training exercises to try and get good enough to use the "convenient" grip.I'd love to see OhSnap return to the simplicity of the Gen 1 grip style, but maybe simply updating it with the circular magnetic ring of the Gen 4. I really wish I could reattach my old Gen 1 right now.
The little fold out plastics for the kickstand broke on me not that long after I got it, and I rarely ever even used that for finger holding or for kickstand in the love the design of it being so flat and the magnet is good charge is just fine overall OK with the product
I just got this yesterday. So far it sticks to my fridge, can stand on its own fine when propped up but after charging all night I only had 38% charge. I have been trying to charge it all day what I am finding is if I am streaming video on my phone while charging my % charged goes down so I am using more battery then I am charging. Charging is the most important feature for me. I have contacted oh snap but waiting to see what they say. If there is an easy fix I will change this rating. I have an Apple iPhone 16 max pro, Apple charge duo wireless charger and a mous limitless 6.0 MagSafe case.
My Snap is the best accessory I’ve ever had on my phone. The comfort of holding it, the ease of tuning it into a kickstand, and the MagSafe charging make this the only accessory you ever need. I’ll always have this on my phone. Thanks guys!!!!
My hands feel so much better and the phone is more secure in my hand. My only issue is that I use mag charging and the grip pulls off my phone and sticks to charger. I’ve reapplied a couple of times following the FAQ info.
The glue doesn’t hold. The phone grip has come off several times. I had to buy a new wireless charger because it wouldn’t work with my old one. The plastic expanders occasionally get bent the wrong way. I’ve had it a week and I’m already concerned it’s not going to last long.Great concept. It is crazy thin. Doesn’t seem to be worth the money, though.
Love the product but two things it does not do, 1) hold up to attaching and removing to/from MagSafe devices 2) it is not a stand. If you expect that look for another product.
