Oh snap! It broke...

My husband has the old version of the snap with the piece of elastic that is used to pop the snap up or close it instead of the little plastic pieces on the new version and he's had that snap for at least four years. Since I spend about 10-12 hours a day on my phone he suggested for me to try a snap since I wear out pop sockets in about 2 months. I ordered the new version with the plastic supports and it lasted me about 4 months before it broke. The plastic pieces that allow the snap to pop up or close bent. They stopped lining up with each other about 3 months after I got it and I had to manually align them to close the snap (which made me almost drop my phone a few times.) It lasted about another month or so before those pieces broke completely and it wouldn't close at all. I also don't find it very comfortable to hold for extended periods of time. I do really like the thin design, it's what attracted me to it in the first place. It's not bulky in my pocket, my phone sits flat on a table, and the snap doesn't get in the way of my camera like pop sockets. The magnet on the snap is very strong and I don't have to remove it to use other accessories like a car mount or phone charger. This is a good phone grip for the average user but for someone like me who is a heavy phone user it doesn't hold up as well.
I love the versatility of ways to use this, how thin it is, how easy it is to open/close, and how well it works as a kickstand when your phone is in landscape. But when trying to use it as a kickstand in the upright/vertical position on my iPhone 16 Pro (not even the Max, just the regular size), it falls over almost immediately. Even when I very carefully position it on a smooth, flat surface and then don’t touch it, it still falls over 75% of the time. But if you aren’t trying to use it for that specific feature, I definitely recommend it!
Incredibly thin/slim compared to any others on the market. Love that. Also it is magnetic on both sides, meaning its locked to my phone and can stick on anything metal as well. Thats a huge plus. Only down side is that the pop out is not long enough, thus my fingers do not fit. I am a tall, slim, long fingered guy (not thick fingers). Thus this is hard to hold when popped out.
The connectors from the base to the flap (for lack of better terminology) have become bent and tangle with each other. Even when I get them to go in the correct direction, which takes some finagling, the flap still will not lay flat in the grip. Also, when I pulled my phone out of my jeans back pocket, the top piece popped off and I had to super glue it back on to be even close to functional. The original seemed to be the best.
I received my Oh Snap in the mail after a long couple of weeks waiting. When I got it, I must say I was pretty impressed with the packaging. Easy to follow, unique, and great details on how to set it up. When they say this thing is thin, they are spot on. It fits easily in my pocket and I don't even notice it. This was a pretty big deal for me and 70% of why I purchased it. Outside of this, I feel that it's not really that easy to pull out the grip with one had, and sliding in one finger isn't that easy either. If you have chubby fingers, good luck. It would be a lot easier if I could take out my phone and undo the back all with one hand. Most of the time I need to use both hands to securely get it onto one had, which is annoying. I find myself just awkwardly holding my phone now with it sealed to the back and is why i gave it a 3 star. but really it would be a 3.5 - 4 star rating.
This product is advertised as allowing MagSafe charging so long as your phone case is less than 2.2mm thick, and an earlier version worked great on my previous phone. However, this model fails to allow for MagSafe charging on my iPhone 16 Pro despite the fact that my case is only 2.1mm thick (and the case supports MagSafe charging as well). Super disappointing as it renders the snap grip virtually unusable as a result.
