First, this unit feels incredibly flimsy because it’s so thin and lightweight. It seems to be very durable though. This is my first time using something like this and I’m still not in the habit of using it but I like it so far. I got it on the Black Friday sale but I feel that it was still a little high for what it is. I’ve read where people complain about the magnet not being strong enough, that’s not the case with mine, it’s plenty strong.
The Ohsnap ads show the Snap easily being applied and removed. But they are misleading in that Snap4 is applies with an adhesive which is very difficult to remove, and which damaged my case. Apparently Snap5 uses magnetic adherence. So if you plan to swap out attachments beware that Snap4 is not for you. Ads are very misleading and Ohsnap refused to replace the Snap4 with a Snap5.
Not happy at all with the new grip. First off, the magnet is about half the strength as the previous models. Thought the nonstick was gonna be a pro but it’s a con for sure. Old version was very strong and sturdy magnet, now my phone slides down and won’t stay up. The grip comes off a bit to easy sometimes also making it a drop hazard. It slips off of my car mount too, I like what they tried to do with the 5 but please go back to the older design! Loved my first two grips but this was just a let down.
While the ultra slim profile is welcoming, it is also quite flimsy and does not support the weight of an iPhone pro 17. Additionally, the pop out feature is cumbersome and requires locking it in to hold, rather than maintaining different positions. Overall, this is very disappointing if you prefer to prop up your phone, especially in portrait positions.
I’ve purchased several Snap Grips over the years and they worked great, but I’m not a fan of the new Snap Grip 5. There is no adhesive on the new models and I don’t feel they stick as well to my phone case. They also don’t grab as well on magnetic mounts. I’ve only owned it a few days and had it fall off my MagSafe car mount twice. My old Snap Grip never had that issue. Not sure that I’ll be buying these going forward.
